Morrison Wins Third In A Row

Wilmot Speedway, September 17, 2005 - Jim Morrison (Antioch, IL) started outside row for in the Modified feature Saturday night at the Wilmot speedway and wasted no time getting to the front of the pack.  Morrison made a bold pass on Scott Hyerdall on lap three to take the lead and withstood several restarts to pick up his third straight feature win and fourth of the year.  Track champion Mike Bodendorfer (Muskego, WI) and his brother Jeff (Waterford, WI) finished second and third respectively.

Brian Kristan (Waukegan, WI) completed a masterful clean sweep picking up the Midwest Sprint Car Association Feature win.  With the drop of the green Scott Semmelmann (Brookfield, WI) jumped out to the early lead from his pole starting position setting a blazing fast pace. Danny Schlafer (Sussex, WI) was able to keep pace and with three laps in the books slipped by Semmelmann to claim the lead. A lap nine yellow erased Danny Schlafer's lead over Semmelmann, Kristan, Barry Maas and Al Schlafer (Sussex, WI). The return to action was again a furious pace and within five more laps Kristan had picked past Semmelmann and pulled up to the rear bumper of Danny Schlafer as the pair again entered lapped traffic.  Kristan was persistent and utilized lapped traffic to take the lead. With five laps to go, Schlafer was chasing Kristan followed by Semmelmann, Lance Fassbender (Burnett, WI) and Maas.  A late race yellow erased Kristan's lead, putting third running Fassbender outside Danny Schlafer on the two wide restart. With the return to green, Schlafer and Fassbender battled for the second spot with Fassbender prevailing.

In the Midwest Sprint Car Race of Champions, co-driver Nathan Ski (Denmark, WI) and driver Jerry Ski were the first to take the checkered flag.  In a photo-finish, co-driver Ayla Kipker (Pell Lake, WI) and driver Kristan beat out the team of Ashley Marshall (Silver Lake, WI) and Danny Schlafer.

Newcomer Tony Serlie took the lead early on from Gary Foster (Kenosha, WI) and held off veteran Jim Vandervere for the feature win in the Street Stock division.

Despite making a mistake in turn two on the last lap, Kirtess Bores picked up his first feature checkered flag in the Mini-Sprint feature.  Bores led from the drop of the green and was never really challenged.

The Wilmot Speedway also saw trucks for the first time. Dale Gustum was the man to beat and took the heat race and the main event. Todd Ross finished second.

Shelby Therkelson of Racine, WI was the Junior Fan of the Night courtesy of National Bank Employee Owned.  The action continues next Saturday night with the Street Stock Championship, Mini Sprint Championship, Sportsman Championship and IMCA type Modifieds.  For more information contact the track office at 262-279-3892.
