Morrison Wins Third Going Away
Local Promotion's Wilmot Speedway
By Bill Mews

(Wilmot, WI, July 10, 2004)  James Morrison (Antioch, IL) took the lead at the midpoint of the IMCA Modified Feature and never looked back.  The event had a rough beginning on lap three when Elmer Everman (Kenosha, WI), Mike Sullivan (Trevor, WI), John Dost and Lee Tibbitts (Hebron, IL) were all involved in an incident coming out of turn four.  On the restart, Jeff Bodendorfer (Waterford, WI) and Pete Ostrowski tangled bringing out the yellow.  Jeff's brother, Mike (Muskego, WI) and Ty Webster brought out the fourth yellow of the event still on lap three after getting together in turn four.  Tom Brown (Fox Lake, IL) briefly took the top spot on lap five but spun by himself about a half lap later.  Morrison got by the leader on lap ten and the best battle of the event was between Mike Simons (Genoa City, WI), Larry Surletta (Lake Villa, IL) and Webster for the runner-up spot.  The win was Morrison's third of the young 2004 season.

Tommy Moore (Muskego, WI) used a little help from a lapped car to get a surprise win in the Sportsman Feature.  Pat Heaney (West Allis, WI) held an early lead until Moore got by him on lap eight.  Don Sorce Jr. (West Allis, WI) and Heaney touched coming out of turn four on lap twelve spinning out Heaney.  Heaney was unable to get his car refired and the yellow came out.  On the ensuing green, Sorce got a fantastic jump on the field and had the lead by the time the field entered turn one.  Sorce held the lead until he had to back off the throttle due to a lap car in his groove coming for the white flag.  Moore was on the inside and was able to make his car stick to the bottom and powered past Sorce for the win.  It was the second year driver's second feature victory.

In an uneventful Street Stock Feature, Gary Foster (Kenosha, WI) quickly jumped out to a commanding lead and won going away.
