Brown, Moyer, Beinlich Victorious At Milwaukee Mile
by Cari Michelfelder
MILWAUKEE (July 28, 2007) – Blake Brown continued his domination of the Summer Shootout Series by winning the 20-lap Legends feature this past Saturday at The Milwaukee Mile. The black #71 started on the pole after a victory in the first of two heat races. Brown and Curt Gnatzig quickly broke away from the rest of the field after the drop of the green flag, but Brown was once again the class of the field and Gnatzig was never able to challenge for the lead. Gnatzig was the victor of the second heat race and started on the outside of the front row for the feature.
Good things come in threes, or at least they do for Aaron Moyer as he powered his Bandolero to victory in the 15-lap feature after being victorious in both 8-lap heat races earlier in the afternoon. The caution flag flew on lap 9 after the cars of Jesse Bernhagen and Kyle Vergatta, running in the top-three all race, spun in turn one. The only caution for the bandos set up a 6-lap dash for the checkered flag. Vern Fagerberg gave it everything he had, but in the end it was Moyer that crossed the finish line first once again.
It was a head-to-head battle of will between two cars in the 15-lap Allison Legacy feature race. Dwight Dunlap followed John Beinlich from start to finish, never falling more than one car length behind.
The Summer Shootout returns to the Milwaukee Mile on Saturday August 18th. Practice starts at 11:00pm, with racing at noon. The series features free admission, race fans are invited to come out and watch the races from bleachers in the infield of the Milwaukee Mile.
