Jim Falls, WI, July 25, 2010 - An entire night of racing without any cautions would be unbelievable and it didn’t happened on Sunday night, but throughout all of the features on Sunday night there were just five cautions on a very smooth feature track.

After coming off of two previous weekend wins at Red Cedar and Rice Lake and being sixteen points shy of leading the points at Eagle Valley Speedway, coming into the race night on Sunday, Shane Halopka and his crew could not have been more pleased when they capped off their week with another feature win on Sunday night in the WISSOTA Midwest Modified Division.

Lance Schilling picked up his second win of the year in his WISSOTA Super Stock. Travis Hazelton scored his first ever win in his WISSOTA Street Stock and Steve Hallquist bested the field to get his first career win in a WISSOTA Modified. In the Eagle Valley divisions, Nick Wojcik picked up his eighth win of the year in his Pure Stock while Hornet track point’s leader, Dustin LaBlonde, netted his fifth win of the year.

The first main event of the night was the Midwest Modified feature with Shane Halopka and Grant Southworth on the front row. Halopka was off to a quick and convincing lead by the end of lap one with Nick Koehler, moving up from third, doing his best to keep up.

Midway through the race, Halopka continued to extend his lead with Southworth in pursuit, along with Jesse Glenz, who had moved up from fourth, plus Koehler, and Brad Hudson, who had come all the way from eleventh.

Despite the best efforts of those in quest of making a move on Halopka, Halopka dominated to get the win in his Baxter’s Speed Shop-sponsored car. Not only was this his third win of the weekend, but it was his eighth win of the year. It may be hard to believe, but it was his first win of the year at Eagle Valley Speedway. Rounding out the top five were: Glenz, Southworth, Koehler, and Hudson.

Ryan Olson and Lance Schilling led the WISSOTA Super Stocks to the green for the start of their feature with Olson grabbing the lead, leading by the end of lap one. It was Schilling, though, who made an impressive pass on the back stretch and grabbed the lead by the end of lap two. Halfway through the feature, Schilling continued to lead with Olson still trying to catch him. Shane Kisling had moved up from sixth to run third. Last week’s winner, Wayne Dean, dropped a spot to run fourth and Eric Olson also dropped a spot to run fifth.

At the checkered flag, it was Schilling with his second Eagle Valley Speedway win of the year in his Service Central-sponsored car. Kisling, Ryan Olson, Eric Olson, and Paul Erikson, who had come from eighth, made up the top five.

Cody Kummer and second in track point’s, Jason Lang, paced the field for the start of the WISSOTA Street Stock feature. Lang was the early leader, leading the first three laps of the race as Travis Hazelton, who had started third, and Jay Kesan, who had started sixth, fought it out for second.

By the end of lap three, Hazelton had seen enough of Lang’s rear bumper and made the pass for the lead with Kesan in his wake, as Lang dropped to third. Doug Wojcik and Chanda Fjorden Nord, meanwhile, battled for fourth.

The midway point of the race saw Hazelton pulling away from the pack and Kesan was still giving it his best shot to keep up. Wojcik ran third and Fjorden Nord and Lang fought it out for fourth. On the bell lap, Kesan made a serious attempt for the lead getting under Hazelton as they came into turn three. Hazelton and Kesan’s car’s touched as they were door-to-door, but Hazelton prevailed.

As the checkered flag flew, Hazelton scored his first ever win in his Sunbeam Tavern-sponsored Street Stock. Kesan hung on to second followed by Wojcik, Fjorden Nord, and Danny Richards, who had started eighth.

Steve Hallquist and Jason Swan led the Modified feature cars to the flag stand for the start of their feature. Hallquist, knowing he had a rare opportunity, surged away from the field immediately to grab the lead by the end of lap one.

As Hallquist was cruising away from the field, midway through the race, Kent Baxter ran high on the track in second as Mark Hanson ran third and stayed low in an attempt to catch Hallquist who, by that time, had pretty much checked out. Mike Anderson moved up from sixth to run fourth and last week’s winner, Kevin Adams shot up from eighth to run fifth.

With six laps to go, Hallquist survived two restarts and then went on for his first career win in his Eau Claire Ford-sponsored Modified. Anderson, Luke Schilling, who had started seventh, Hanson, and Adams latched onto the other top five spots.

The Eagle Valley Pure Stocks feature saw Shawn Warner and Brandon Lofgren lead the field to the start with Warner leading by the end of lap one. By the end of lap two, Warner had dropped to third, Danny Richards moved up from seventh to take second, and Rod Ryba moved up from fifth to take first.

Mid-race saw Richards in the lead. Richards, after a caution a few laps earlier, saw the opportunity and reacted quickly on the restart. Nick Wojcik ran second at that point, after starting eighth, Ryba fell to third, Pat Smith ran fourth, and Warner ran fifth.

With two laps to go, it looked like Richards had the win in the bag, but Wojcik, on the white flag lap, thought otherwise making a pass on the back stretch for the lead.

Wojcik picked up a sweep and his eighth win of the year in his Troy’s Shop-sponsored Pure. Richards, Ryba, Smith, and Warner completed the top five.

Billie Anderson and Scott Westaby led the way for the start of the Eagle Valley Hornet feature. It was Rocky Kempe, who had started fourth, grabbing the lead by the end of lap one with Anderson in second.

Four laps into the race, Kempe still led and Dustin LaBlonde ran second, after starting eighth. As lap five was nearing completion, Anderson rolled his car coming out of turn one, red flagging the race. Anderson was fine, but his car was not and when racing resumed LaBlonde passed Kempe on the restart.

LaBlonde saw nothing but clean air for the remainder of the race, picking up a sweep and his fifth win of the year in his Northwest Refrigeration-sponsored car. Jerry Zebro, Kempe, Mark Ryskoski, and Westaby rounded out the top five.

Racing resumes on Sunday, August 1, when WAXX radio presents a regular night of racing.

Keep Friday, August 6, open on your entertainment schedule because that is the night when Eagle Valley and Seubert, Inc., present the “Eve of Devastation” with rollover contests, tire races, demo derby, last man races and many more unusual events. Plus on that night the Green Mamba will do a jet car burn and there will also be fireworks!

Also, Sunday, August 8, Tim’s Automotive Machine will present the Amsoil Race of Champions qualifier races. This event is sure to attract racers from all over who wish to qualify for the WISSOTA Race of Champions in Huron, SD, in September.
