(Sturgeon Bay, WI) May 26 - Woody's Signs of Sturgeon Bay is giving an extra $100 to each feature winner Saturday May 29, on Palmer Johnson night at Prestige Yacht Coatings ThunderHill Raceway.
Seal Tec Seal Coating and Innovator Graphics by Hammer is also adding an extra $50 on top of the $100 for the 4 cylinder feature winner. Making it $200 to win the 4 cylinder feature.
"The dedication each and every racer shows, is truly amazing!" said track promoter Bryan "Woody" Wodack "The racing has been outstanding , adding extra cash to win should provide a little extra incentive for the drivers and give the fans an awesome show."
Weekly Notes:
Sturgeon Bay's Ryan LeMieux captured the IMCA Sport Mod feature with a thrilling last lap pass. This was Ryan's first feature win in 11 years, he has raced everything from bombers to modifieds.
New Franken's Brad Lautenbach suffered a broken starter in his IMCA Sport Mod while sitting in lineup. Lautenbach won the first two features of the season and was the point leader heading into action last Saturday. His crew thrashed and was able to get the starter changed, although he went laps down he was able to run some laps in the feature and gather valuable points in his quest for his first track title. Brad has finished runner up at ThunderHill the last two seasons. He's currently 4th in standing, 10 marks behind point leader Eric "Chummy"Arneson.
In the class they call "Too Tough To Tame" the IMCA Stockcars, there was a major shakeup in points. Division leader Charlie Kroll suffered damage during heat race action, and had to run the last chance consi. When the green fell his car would show significant smoke coming from the right rear tire, a few laps later the tire would go flat and Kroll would not make the feature. While in pits the crew would find rear suspension damage causing the flat, Kroll would drop to 9th in the standings.
J.J. Heinz is the current point leader, holding a 4 point lead over Rookie Jeremy Wiitala. Third place sitting 5 marks back is Defending Track Champion Mike Pierrard who is tied with veteran racer Troy Muench, defending race winner Greg Gretz sits just 7 points back in 5th.
Thunderhill is located at the John Miles Fair Park on Sturgeon Bay's east side with racing in the six divisions beginning every Saturday night through the summer at 6:00 PM.
