  Kuxhouse, Reichert, Homan And Kasten Win Championships At Wilmot

Wilmot, WI. Sept. 27th. It was the season championships at Local Motion Entertainment's Wilmot speedway Saturday night. Antioch, Illinois driver Scott Kuxhouse won the modified crown. Bob Reichert out of McHenry, IL. won the mini sprint top spot. This was both driver's second straight champ- ionship. Another Antioch, IL. driver, Tom Homan won the street stock championship and Shawn Kasten from Lake Geneva winning the Fearless 4's crown. A few weeks ago Todd Daun of Pleasant Prairie won the 410 outlaw sprint championship, when their season ended on September 6th. There is one night of entertainment, as the eve of destruction takes place on the 4th. of October at 5 pm.

In the modified division Scott Kuxhouse scored a clean sweep by winning his heat and the 25 lap feature. The other heat went to Waterford's Jeff Bodendorfer Jr. It took Kuxhouse just seven laps to take the top spot and despite a caution with one lap to go, Kuxhouse held on to win. Kris Techert was second, Mike Bodendorfer from Waterford grabbed third right along side Techert. Larry Surleta from Lake Villa, IL. took fourth. Frank Beutel was fifth and Mike Conn out of Big Bend was sixth.

Tom Brown from McHenry, IL. got his winning streak back, taking the 20 lap race and second in the points championship. The race was non stop, with a lot of close competition. Visiting Austin Archdale from Peoria Heights, IL. took second, Kip Novotny from Johnsburg, IL. was third in his best finish this season. Will Archdale of Peoria Heights, another visitor was fourth. Bob Reichert was fifth and Randy Reed completed the top six. Randy Reed and Tom Brown won the heats.

In the street stock class, Steve Kennedy won his first feature of his career. The feature went to the twenty first lap before a caution for a AJ Hedges spin. The conclusion was exciting, with Steve Hertz in front, looking like a winner, but coming off turn four for the checkered, Kennedy pulled off a slick move, going on to win. Hertz got high, when Kennedy went under, Tom Homan, Jim Vandervere from Waukegan, IL. , Brad Norgard from Genoa City, Dustin Richards and Kevin Henderson, both from Kenosha followed and rounded out the top six. Hertz, he ended up ninth after that melee. Heats went to Steve Podratz and Dustin Richards.

The fearless 4's had a season high 17 cars enter, with Woodstock, IL. 's Scott Redden winning the 15 lap feature, leading all laps. Before the feature started Tyler Peterson let rookie of the year Crystal O'Gorman from Lake in the Hills, IL. use his car, because of problems with her Honda. Crystal finished seventh. Rob Maule from Lake Villa, IL. had a flat tire with a few laps to go and retired to the pits, ending up ninth. Tim Jendrycki took second in the event, with 28 R third. Chris Green was fourth, with Shawn Kasten and Kris Rigert completing the top six. Heats went to Green and Kasten.

Coming up Saturday night will be the season finale, as Local Motion Entertainment presents a great family show with the "eve of destruction. The starting time will be 5 pm. The first of two demo derbys start off the evening. Call 262-279-3892 to enter or be here when the pits opens at 11 am. It will be a big night, with roll over contests and the Fearless 4's racing for appearance points. A trailer race will top off the evening. The rain date is October 11th.
