Nowak Wheels His Ways To Victory At State Park Speedway

Tonight, we welcomed the kids to WCAR/Wausau Evening Optimists "Kiddie Night".
It was Wausau Evening Optimists 20th year helping with our kiddie night taking
care of the bike races, giving each participant a t-shirt, a bag of popcorn & a soda.
Activities for the kids this evening included stock car rides, bike races and many
games with lots of prizes given away. One of the activities this evening was to make
get well cards for Tim Wimmer (brother of #23 NASCAR Busch Series Scott Wimmer
& #05 ASA Chris Wimmer). Tim was injured recently and is in St. Mary's Hospital
in Rochester, Minnesota.
In the Central Wisconsin Late Model Feature tonight, two rookies, Edgar's #47 Ben
Duberstein & Birnamwood's #17 Mike "Louie" Merriam made up our front row. Merriam
led for 4 laps, until Merrill's #03 Bo Bennish & Wausau's #44 Justin Woller made contact
in corner 3 causing Woller to spin and bringing out the only caution. Woller & Bennish
were both put to the back, neither one taking the blame for this incident. On the restart,
Wausau's #14 Wayne Breitenfeldt would take over the lead from Merriam, but the lead
didn't last long because Wausau's #32 wheeled his way to the front and onto the win.
Second went to Wausau's #70 Neil Knoblock and third went to Bennish.
Merrill's #06 Andy "Black Bart" Bartelt was strong this evening as he was ahead of the field with Wausau's #79 Adam Jennejohn way behind. It was on lap 14, when Bart
driving hard saw Wausau's #2 Tim Nawrocki in his rear view mirror.
Nawrocki's car was gearing for the top spot. Bartelt just didn't have enough to contend with Nawrocki, and Nawrocki would capture another feature win. Second would go to Marathon's #21 Andy Witberler and third would go to Bartelt.
Seventeen cars made up our field in the Cenex Mini Stock Feature. With all these cars
participating, it was a hard clean caution free race. Wausau's #13 Jenny Nitzsche &
Wausau's #47 Jeff "Slim Shady" Spatz challenged each other for the top spot, but Spatz
would come out on top. Spatz & Marathon's #22 Greg Blount would check out from the
rest of there competitors. Spatz would go to victory lane with Blount coming in second
and Rudolph's #0 Keith Wirtz coming in third. How about those Ford Mustangs?
Racing was close tonight as seven cars would participate, a first time record for this season in the Mini Cup Feature. Schofield's #70 Kyle Kluetz & Phillips #31 Trevor Raskie
would make this race real exciting as they bump drafted several times. This race would
come down to the wire, but Raskie had the inside line advantage and went onto win.
Kluetz would come in second and Mosinee's #8 Chris Hoen came in third.
Next week, a full show of racing action is planned with the point battle continuing.
