Shawano Speedway Car Show Signals Racing Season Is Near
Shawano, WI - Area race fans will be able to get their first glimpses of the
2006 race cars Saturday and Sunday, March 18 and 19 when the Bay Park Square
Mall in Green Bay hosts the Shawano Speedway Car Show. This is always an
exciting event, as race fans and drivers start gearing up for the 2006 racing
season.
There will be around 15 race cars on display at the mall, including the IMCA
Sport Mod that the Shawano Speedway will be raffling off this summer. Raffle
tickets will be available at the car show, and are $5 each. The raffle will
take place on Saturday, July 29 during the racing program. The IMCA Sport Mod,
which will be turnkey, will also have an open trailer included.
The IMCA Sport Mod division is being added to the Shawano Speedway racing
program in 2006, joining the WISSOTA Late Model, IMCA Modified, IMCA Stock Car
and Limited Late Model divisions.
The car show is just the first sign that the 2006 Shawano Speedway racing
season is right around the corner. The opening night of racing is scheduled
for Saturday, April 15. If the track is ready, and weather permitting, there
will a practice earlier in the day.
Several improvements have been made to the track during the offseason.
Concrete blocks have been added around corners three and four. Corners three
and four have also been regraded, with corner four being widened. New clay was
also added to the track last fall.
Also, in an effort to make the race viewing better for spectators, the pit
area outside the track has been expanded. All big haulers will be parking
outside the track, regardless of the division that driver races in.
