Springborn Captures Shawano WISSOTA LM Season Finale

(Shawano, WI) Sept. 10 - Hometown driver Troy Springborn led wire-to-wire en
route to victory in the 20 lap WISSOTA late model feature at Shawano Speedway
Saturday night.
Springborn jumped into the lead from his front row starting spot at the drop
of the green. Rod Snellenberger, guest driving Greg Haney's car, spun on lap
10, erasing Springborn's lead. When racing resumed Springborn kept the lead
with Gordie Seegert moving into third. Berna stayed within striking distance
but could not muster enough for a pass as Springborn held on for the win.
Placing second through fifth were Berna, Seegert, Tim Buhler and MJ Mcbride.
Fremont's Mike Wedelstadt passed Joe Haferkorn for the lead on lap five and
went on to win the 15 lap IMCA modified feature.
Wedelstadt was challenged at the event's midpoint by co-track champion Eric
Scribner, who dropped out on lap nine with mechanical woes. A Jesse Peebles
spin on lap 11 set up a four lap dash to the checkers. On the restart
Wedelstadt kept the challengers at bay to collect the win. Jon Berna, Brad
Rohloff, Jerry Muenster and Craig Bartz.
Track champion Jeff Curtin of Shawano passed Leopolis' Bob Schmidt for the
lead on lap nine to win the 15 lap limited late model feature. Trailing at the
checkers were Bob Schmidt, Aaron Wickersheim, Joey Braatz and Luke Uttecht.
Snellenberger passed Asa Doxtator for the lead with two laps to go and went on
to win the 15 lap IMCA stock car feature. Doxtator settled for second,
followed by Brian Bruechert, Junior Karcz and BJ Giese.
Bonduel's Greg Banker won both the 4 cylinder feature and his heat, netting a
clean sweep while Janet Pericak from Shawano took top honors in the Spectator
Eliminator Powder Puff races.
