Wet Weather Cancels Shawano Speedway Program

Shawano, WI (May 22, 2004) - For the second time in three weeks, heavy rains forced the cancellation of the Shawano Speedway’s weekly racing program Saturday night.

Through four weeks of racing Nick Anvelink sits atop of the WISSOTA Late Model standings, two points ahead of Gordie Seegert and six points ahead of M.J. McBride. Troy Springborn has won two WISSOTA Late Model features, with A.J. Diemel and Pete Parker each having one win apiece.

Once again, Eddie Muenster is leading the IMCA Modified standings, five points ahead of Wade Schutt and eight points ahead of Mike Wedelstadt. Muenster is going for his fourth straight IMCA Modified track championship at the Shawano Speedway. Schutt has two feature wins, with Julie McDermid and Norm Walbruck each winning one feature.

The IMCA Stock Car division is being led by Larry Karcz, who has a six point lead over Shannon Volkman, and a 10 point lead over Jason Czarapata. Rod Snellenberger has two IMCA Stock Car feature wins, with Cory Lemirande and Jeremy Christians each winning one feature.

Justin Ritchie is leading the Limited Late Model division, six points ahead of Jeff Curtin and 18 points ahead of Larry Drefahl. Ritchie has two feature wins to his credit in 2004, with Curtin and Tony Wudstrack each winning one feature. 

Racing action will continue next Saturday night, and continue each weekend through Labor Day weekend. WISSOTA Late Models, IMCA Modifieds, IMCA Stock Cars, and Limited Late Models race weekly at the Shawano Speedway, with the racing action starting at 6:30 p.m. each Saturday night.
