Mashl Wins Mod Feature From The Pole At Seymour
Seymour, August 13- With a smooth, fast track, a field of 155 cars ran an
excellent non-stop program Sunday night at the Seymour Speedway.
Mitch Landvick set the pace for the Street Stock division main for the first 3
laps. Kyle Schroeder was running second and swapped the lead a couple times
before taking charge on lap 7. Kyle Kudick moved from the middle of the field
into the runner up spot and on lap 10, took over the lead and started to pull
away from the field. Landvick, Schroeder, Harley Simon, Eric Arneson and Mike
Woodke battled for the runner up spot for the rest of the race.
With 5 laps left, Landvick was still holding the runner up spot with Arneson
now in third, Darren Otto and point leader, Jeremy Wiitala were now in the top
6 with Simon. Kudick took the checker first over a ¼ lap ahead with Landvick
running to his best finish taking second holding off Otto. Arneson, Wiitala
and Simon made up the top six.
Following the race, Kudick was subject to a claim that he refused which DQ’d
him from the event, giving the win to Landvick. It was the first career
feature win for Landvick.
The IMCA Stock Cars were up next and clicked off a flag to flag event Darren
Otto set the pace from the start and led until Kyle Fredrick took charge on
lap 6. Shawn Wagner was hooked up on the outside and on lap 8, was the leader.
Wagner started to pull away from the rest of the pack, leaving a tight battle
to develop for the runner up spot. Fredrick, Jamie Colwell, Otto, Rod
Snellenberger, Larry Karcz, Jr and Troy Jerovetz swapped positions for the
rest of the race.
Wagner picked up his first feature win here since Sept 6, 2004 with Jamie
Colwell slipping by Fredrick for the second place finish on the final lap.
Snellenberger took fourth with Karcz and Jerovetz rounding out the top six.
Mike Mashl started the Budweiser IMCA Modified main on the pole and took the
lead at the start followed by Chad Wilcox, Lance Arneson, Paul Parker and
Jeremie Hedrick. Wilcox led the field on lap 2, but Mashl was back in control
on the following lap. By lap 5, Hedrick moved into third and Jared Siefert was
into fourth. The top four started to pull away from the rest of the field and
despite several attempts to change positions during the rest of the non stop
race, remained the same to the finish, with Mashl collecting his first Seymour
feature win since April 30, 2000. Wilcox, Hedrick and Siefert were next.
Arneson was back a bit in 5th. David Werbelow won a tight battle for the 6th
spot over Brian Mullen, Jay Matthias, point leader, Benji LaCrosse and Brian
Drexler.
Rod Snellenberger set the pace for the opening lap of the Maplewood Shell/
Dedicated Systems WISSOTA Late Model main before point leader, Tim Buhler took
charge. Justin Ritchie was in pursuit and took the lead from Buhler on lap 5.
Buhler stayed with the leader and took a fast inside shot into the lead on lap
10 entering turn 1, but could not hold on and slipped out in turn 2, giving
Ritchie and opening back to the lead. Ritchie held a couple length lead for
the rest of the non- stop race to collect his first career feature win. Buhler
followed in second. Nick Anvelink ended a race long back and forth run with
his dad, Terry, to take third, Ron Berna and Snellenberger rounded out the top
six places.
Janet Pericak set the pace for the opening 2 circuits of the 4 Cylinder main
with Greg Dey leading lap 3 and Tony Everard leading lap 4. Matt Oreskovich
set his new car in the top spot on lap 5 and took off for his 4 th feature win
of the season. Point leader, Tim Jorgenson, trailed the leader from lap 5 and
settled for the runner up finish. Everard, Phil Martzahl, Andy Kleczka and
Mark Gerrits rounded out the top six.
The Milwaukee Stock Car Club brought their Vintage cars to compete as well
with Terry Pulver, sweeping both the heat and feature event. It was only his
third time racing on dirt.
