Siefert, Diemel, Colwell, Hoerning & Daoust Take Feature Wins At Seymour
Seymour July 17- Racing returned to the Seymour Speedway following a week off
for the fair and even though the track got a bit rough, the feature action was
excellent with Budweiser, Tri County Distributing as the title sponsor.
The Wissota Late Models put 21 cars on the grid with Tim Lemirande taking
charge for the first 5 laps before A.J. Diemel took the inside line and the
lead on lap 6. Diemel checked out and left the battle for the runner up spot
for the rest of the non stop event. Lemirande, Chris Carlson, Luke Roffers and
Ron Berna kept close and had a tight battle to the finish. Diemels run to his
first feature win this season was easy except the final lap when a pair of
lapped cars almost caught the leader, but A.J. wove through and collected the
win. Roffers won the battle for second with Lemirande and Berna next in line.
Defending track champion, Tim Buhler caught Carlson on the final lap for 5th
putting Carlson 6th.
Aaron Melchert set the pace for the first 7 laps of the Street Stock main with
David Hoerning taking charge on lap 8. Hoerning started to pull away a bit
before a lone caution slowed the field on lap 14.
This erased Hoernings lead and put the point leaders right back into
contention, after fighting through traffic until this point. Melchert, Wiitala,
Harley Simon, Brian Koch, Mike Pierrard and Don Lecker were right behind for
the restart.
Hoerning was able to hold a couple length lead for the final 6 laps, but the
battle for second stayed close. Point leader, Wiitala came through to take the
second place finish with Simon, Pierrard, Koch and Lecker rounding out the top
six.
Steve Frees led the opening lap of the IMCA Stock Car main with Brandon
Czarapata pulling into the top spot on lap 2. Jesse Colwell, Jamie Colwell,
Jason Czarapata, Kyle Fredrick and Rod Snellenberger were running tight behind
as the leader started to open a slight lead. Czarapata was holding the lead
with the group behind really battling for second. Czarapata was leading on lap
10 and suddenly pulled high and off the track leaving the 6 car pack to now
battle for the lead. Fredrick was now leading with Colwell, Jason Czarapata,
Snellenberger, Larry Karcz, Jr and Chaz Van Ooyen behind. On lap 14, Colwell
pulled inside of the leader and ran side by side for several laps before
moving into the top spot on lap 18. Colwell held on to win his first feature
here since July 8, 2003. In the flash for second, Czarapata got the nod for
runner up with Karcz slipping into third, Fredrick 4th, Van Ooyen fifth and
Jesse Colwell sixth.
Joel Schmit led the opening 2 circuits of the Budweiser IUMCA Modified main
before Jared Siefert snuck by. Scott Mullen, Brian Drexler, and point leader
Dan Deau pulled into line over the next couple laps to chase the leader.
Several cautions kept the field bunched and the fight for the lead tight.
Mullen got along side of the leader about mid race but Siefert regained
control when Drexler occupied Mullens time running for second. Drexler was
able to take over the runner up spot on lap 12 and chased Siefert to his
second feature win of the season. Mullen was 3rd with Deau holding the point
lead, taking 4th. Mike Klenz and Travis Spaulding rounded out the top six.
Abe Farley and Justin Arneson each led one of the opening two laps of the 4
Cylinder main before Matt Maleport took over and led until a couple cautions
slowed the race on lap 5. On a restart, Maleport had a wheel break off his car
turning the top spot to Dan Daoust. Daoust led easily until D.J. Jorgenson
started pressuring with 5 laps left. The pair ran the second last lap side by
side and looked like a photo finish until a lapped car forced Jorgenson to get
off the gas a second, which allowed Daoust the run to his first career feature
win. Jorgenson took a close second with Kevin Birr, Eric Pinkowski, Greg
Banker and Mark Krause round out the top six.
Racing continues every Sunday through Labor Day.
Next week will be the Decal Central Bar vs Law race.
