Parker Takes Feature At Seymour

Former two-time national WISSOTA Late Model champion Pete Parker of Kaukauna showed flashes of his former dominance Sunday night at Seymour Tri-Oval Raceway winning the feature.

Randy Marquardt of Sheboygan led the opening laps of the race that was punctuated twince in the first five rounds by caution periods because of crashes.

The first involved the car of last year’s track champ Troy Springborn who spun out in the tri-oval and collected A.J. Diemel, Terry Casey and Luke Roffers. All of them returned for the restart which didn’t even last one lap because of another incident in almost the same location; this one between Mike Kenschke and Michelle Ploeckleman.  Michelle’s car could be repaired quickly but Kenschke was done for the night.

On the next restart Marquardt again took the lead but was overtaken by Parker within two laps. From there Parker never looked back and took the victory just ahead of Casey who recovered from his earlier crash to finish second.  Greg Dhien, Roffers and Marquardt rounded out the top five.

The “bounty” money was flying all around the IMCA Modified division with Danny Deau, Brad Rohloff, Lance Arneson and Jamie Schmidt all running with extra incentive monies on the line.

Unfortunately, Benji LaCrosse had other ideas and spoiled all of their plans by taking the top spot from Deau on lap sixteen of twenty and running off to the winners circle. Scott Mullen drove his ride to the second spot despite having almost no sheet metal left on the side of the car after a first lap contact.  Deau would drop to third just ahead of Travis Spaulding.

The IMCA Sock cars had their usual share of thrills and spills on the night. Brian Karcz, Jr, started on the pole and did his best to hold off a snarling pack of eight of the top ten point holders who were breathing down his tail pipe. The strongest of these proved to be the point leader Brandon Czarapata of Horicon who took the lead just after the halfway point.

Brandon started putting distance between he and the field very quickly and might have made this one a rout had not “Hot Rod” Snellenberger spun out on lap fifteen that brought out the yellow flag and tightened the field.

On the restart Czarapata dominated and drove to a convincing win. Last year’s champion Jeremy Christians would settle for second in this event with Kyle Fredrick, Shawn Wagner and Larry Karcz, Jr. third, fourth and fifth respectively.

In the Street Stock division current points leader “Dancin” Lance Arneson had an opportunity to take home an extra three hundred dollar bounty put up by his sponsor, Safari Steak House, for winning his feature.  Arneson drove for all he was worth starting near the rear of the field and moving all the way to fourth.

Unfortunately for Arneson that’s as far as he would get as Rick Napparella bested the field finishing ahead of “Flyin” Phil Hiles, Darren Otto, Areneson and Jamie Van Ooyen.

The Four Bangers finished their year with what was arguably one of the best feature’s run all year by the beginner class. Marty VanDeHei came from the back of the pack and took the win sealing his track championship in the process. Greg Banker ended up second on the night ahead of Jeff Kropp and Jasper Drengler.

Next week is the final race of the year at the Tri-oval, the seventh annual “Seymour Shootout”. Racing starts at 6PM sharp.
