ARCA RE/MAX Rookie Bjorklund Earns 2006 Bill France Triple Crown
TOLEDO OH (9-11-06) – Blake Bjorklund, driver of the No. 32 Country Joe
Racing-Red Line Oil Dodge, earned the 2006 ARCA RE/MAX Series Bill France
Triple Crown, a three-race series that concluded this past weekend at
Chicagoland Speedway.
The Bill France Triple Crown is a separate point fund within the 23-race ARCA
RE/MAX Series schedule that tests drivers on a challenging combination of
venues all in a tight, nine-day stretch. The series began on Friday night,
September 1st at Toledo Speedway, a half-mile short track, and included a
100-lap event just two days later on the DuQuoin State Fairgrounds mile-dirt.
Saturday’s SK Hand Tool 200 at Chicagoland marked the third and final Bill
France Triple Crown event of 2006.
Bjorklund, a native of Isanti, Minnesota, finished third at Toledo followed by
a solid fifth place finish at DuQuoin, his first appearance on the historic
southern Illinois fairgrounds clay oval. Bjorklund, who is also leading the
ARCA RE/MAX Series Rookie of the Year standings, clinched the Bill France
Triple Crown title with a career-best runner-up finish to Steve Wallace at
Chicagoland.
In 2006, Bjorklund earned his career-first Pork Pole award at Berlin Raceway
in Marne, Michigan and followed up those accolades with a pole at the
Milwaukee Mile in late August. In 18 career starts, Bjorklund has earned nine
top-10 finishes and five top-5s. Bjorklund drives for Country Joe Racing, the
same team that fielded cars for 2005 ARCA RE/MAX Series Rookie-of-the-Year
Joey Miller.
Bjorklund joins Frank Kimmel, Brent Sherman, Tim Steele, Bill Baird, Harris
DeVane, Bob Hill, Bob Keselowski, Bobby Bowsher, Bill Venturini, Tracy Leslie,
Grant Adcox, Lee Raymond and Davey Allison as former Bill France Triple Crown
winners. The ARCA RE/MAX Series has honored a Bill France Triple Crown
champion at the end-of-the-year National Championship Awards Banquet each
consecutive season since 1984.
