Top Stars Expected At Spring Classic
By: Kevin Ramsell

Tuesday, April 03, 2007 (Loves Park, IL) – One of the great things about the 30th Annual Spring Classic at the Rockford Speedway is the stars that it usually draws.  The 2007 edition should draw a cream of the crop field.

Frank Kreyer, a Pardeeville, WI native, recently earned his first start in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series at Martinsville, VA.  He finished 28th, four laps down.  Last year, Kreyer hopes to improve from his 17th finish in last year’s event.  He did earn a Wisconsin Challenge Series win in 2006 at the Wisconsin Dells Speedway.  The Speedway was recently renamed to Dells Raceway Park, where Kreyer is one of the owners.

Nate Haseleu of Marshall, WI, started off his 2007 season on a high note last Sunday with a CRA Super Series win at Music City Motorplex in Nashville, TN.  Haseleu is fresh off of defending his WCS championship.  The two-time WCS champion finished second in last year’s event.

Dexter Bean from Westby, WI is competing in his second full season on the ARCA Re/Max Series.  Last year, the young driver had two fourth place finishes (Pocono & Chicago), five top-ten finishes and one pole award.   He is planning on coming to Rockford during one of his rare off weekends to improve on his 20th place finish last year.  In 2003, Bean made an impressive debut at Rockford with a 3rd place finish at the National Short Track Championships.

Defending Spring Classic champion and Cherry Valley, IL native, Steve Rubeck will be back to defend his win.   Last year, Rubeck dominated the 150-lap event by leading 108 laps and went on to hold off Haseleu and 2006 NSTC winner, Jeremy Lepak for the win.

The 30th Annual Spring Classic will take place on Saturday, April 14th and Sunday, April 15th at the Rockford Speedway.  The Wisconsin Challenge Series will be in action both Saturday night and Sunday afternoon.  The Mid-American Series will highlight the Saturday night action with a 60-lap feature event and the Big 8 Series will be in action on Sunday afternoon with a 58-lap feature.

Plus, the pre-entry list continues to grow for the first ever Crap Scrappers Hornet vs. Bandit Challenge event.  See the best in 4-cylinder cars compete in a 25-lap feature event on Saturday night.
