Mid-American Series To Go 60 For The 60th

Friday, March 30, 2007 (Loves Park, IL) – Rockford Speedway officials along with the Mid-American Series has announced that this year’s Mid-American Series feature event will be 60-laps in length to help celebrate the 60th Anniversary of the legendary speedway.  The Mid-American Series will highlight the Saturday night action of the two-day Spring Classic weekend on April 14-15th.

Last season, Mother Nature attempted to rain on the Mid-American Series 50-lap feature event that saw Wausau native Lyle Nowak hold off Johnny Senerchia for the win.

“The Mid-American Series has been a long time fixture of the Spring Classic and the National Short Track Championships,” Gregg McKarns, Rockford Speedway General Manager stated.  “It’s an honor that this Series has increased its feature event to 60-laps in honor of the track’s anniversary season.”

The Saturday night action on April 14th will also include qualifying and qualifying races for the Wisconsin Challenge Series Super Late Models and the first ever Hornet vs. Bandit Challenge event.  The racing action will get underway at 6:06 p.m.

The WCS will highlight the Sunday afternoon of racing on April 15th with a 150-lap feature event.  Cherry Valley native, Steve Rubeck will go for his second win in a row.  The Big 8 Series will also be in action with a 58-lap feature event.  The action will get underway at 1:00 p.m.

Rockford Speedway’s 60th Anniversary season will begin next Saturday, April 7th with the O’Reilly Auto Parts Spring Smash-O-Rama.  Advance discount tickets are on sale now at all Rockford area O’Reilly Auto Parts stores.  The Devastator Monster Truck will be in action along with and evening of stunts and races.  

Fans can get a close up view of the Devastator Monster Truck from Noon to 2 p.m. at the new Del Taco located near the Speedway on Hwy. 173.

The Speedway will be open for practice for all weekly divisions and Spring Classic divisions from Noon to 4 p.m. on Saturday, April 7th.  There will be free grandstand admission.
