Rockford’s 60th Anniversary Schedule Announced

Tuesday, February 20, 2007 (Loves Park, IL) – Rockford Speedway officials have released the 2007 season schedule at the Rockford Speedway. The Speedway will be celebrating its 60th season of racing.

“When you look at the 2007 season schedule, you will see that some of the fan favorites will return, plus some new events have been added as well,” Rockford Speedway General Manager Gregg McKarns stated. “While we will be featuring some of the best racing in the Midwest, we will also have some great entertainment for the entire family.”

The 2007 season will open on Saturday, April 7th with the “Spring Smash-O-Rama” featuring the Devastator Monster Truck, Monster Truck Rides and much more.

The 30th Annual Spring Classic will take place on April 14-15. The Wisconsin Challenge Series will make its first of two appearances at the high-banked quarter-mile oval with a 150-lap main event on Sunday, April 15th along with the Big 8 Series. The WCS will have its qualifying and preliminary races on Saturday night, April 14th. The Mid-American Series will highlight the Saturday night action with a 75-lap feature event along with a Hornet vs. Bandit Challenge on the oval. The Saturday night action gets underway at 7:07 p.m. with Sunday’s event starting at 1:00 p.m.

Six-time track champion Ricky Bilderback will start his quest for a record-tying seventh title on Saturday, April 21st as Coca-Cola presents the season opener for the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series. All fans that bring an empty Coca-Cola 20 oz. bottle will get $2 off adult admission.

The Midwest Enduro Series will make two appearances at the Rockford Speedway in 2007. They will make their first visit on Sunday, May 6th and on Sunday, August 12th.

Memorial Day weekend at the Rockford Speedway will kick off with the annual “Friday Night Fright” on Friday, May 25th. The wild night of action will include a monster truck, monster truck rides, the American Short Trackers, Hornets, Spectacular Drags, Roll Over Contest, Auto Soccer and much more. On Saturday night, the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series will be in action with the famous Flagpole Race.

The Memorial Day weekend festivities will conclude on Sunday, May 27th with the 14th Annual Budweiser WXRX Wing Ding music festival.

You cannot go through the month of June without the Speedway having its annual World Famous Trailer Race presented by Kar Korner on Saturday, June 9th along with NASCAR Whelen All-American Series racing action.

The first of ten Wednesday night programs start on June 13th as AT&T Yellow Pages published by R.H. Donnelley presents Wild Wednesday Chamber Night.

You may have heard of it and may have seen it on television, now you will have your chance to see “Drifting” in person on three occasions at the Rockford Speedway. The first of three events at the Rockford Speedway will take place on Sunday, June 24th. See the best in the Midwest compete on the high-banked quarter-mile oval in this unique form of racing. The other two appearances will take place on Sunday, July 22nd and Sunday, September 16th.

It will be a busy month in July and it all starts on Tuesday, July 3rd with the Star Spangled Celebration. The NASCAR Late Models, American Short Trackers and Hornets will be in action. The night will end with a 10,000 WATT Fireworks Extravaganza. Then it’s back to the Speedway on Wednesday, July 4th as Gilley’s Heating and Air Conditioning presents the Midnight Ride of Paul Revere and fireworks.

Doug Rose and his Green Mamba Jet Car will return to the Rockford Speedway. He will be a part of the Mid-Summer Night Scream on Saturday, July 14th. This action filled night will also include The Felon monster truck, monster truck rides, Hornets, Spectacular Drags and much more.

Saturday, July 21st is a night you will want to mark off on your calendar as the Rockford Speedway will celebrate its 60th Anniversary of racing. The NASCAR All-American Series will be in action that night along with Past Champions, Walk of Fame Autograph Session, Vintage Displays and fireworks. This will be a night not to miss.

The ASA Late Model Series Northern Division will mark their first appearance on Saturday, July 27th. See their stars and cars including 2006 champion, 17-year-old Jesse Smith, compete in a 100-lap main event. Over the last two seasons, the ASA Late Model Series national champions have gone on to successful rides in one of NASCAR’s top-three divisions. This will be a great opportunity to see a future star race on the famous quarter-mile oval.

The month of August will have some of the wildest events in the Midwest, starting with the Finnegan’s RV World Famous Figure 8 Trailer Race on Saturday, August 4th. Then, what happens when you get divorced couples each in their own car? You have the second annual Divorcee Demo Derby on Saturday, August 11th. Watch these divorced couples take out their anger in a classic last divorcee standing demolition derby. Both events were highlighted on Speed Channel’s “On the Edge” series.

On Saturday, September 1st, it’s NASCAR Championship Night for the NASCAR Late Models and RoadRunners, along with the famous Outhouse Race and a $500 Match Race.

Saturday, September 8th, it’s the Budweiser Night of Thrills presented by LaMonica Beverages. The Big Dawg monster truck will be in action along with a wild night of school bus racing, and much more.

The 42nd Annual National Short Track Championships presented by Chicago International Trucks will take place on its new weekend of September 28-30. The Wisconsin Challenge Series will make their second appearance and decide their 2007 champion at this historic event. This will be “One Great Racing Weekend.”

The 16th Annual Bahama Brackets Nationals will take place on October 13-14th. If you haven’t been to this event, make your plans now to be a part of it. If you ever wanted to see a super stock compete against a modified and the clock at the same time, your wish will come true.

The 60th Anniversary season will conclude on Sunday, October 21st with the Goblin 250 Enduro and demo derby.
