Bahama Brackets, Great Fall Weather This Weekend
The light dusting of snow that covered the greater Rockford area this morning
has melted away and may have increased the chances of someone taking the trip
to the Bahamas. Each Bracket winner will be given the opportunity to choose
between a trip for two to the Bahamas or the prize money. Meteorologists are
predicting a nice weekend with highs in the mid-50’s with abundant sunshine,
perfect for racing.
Well over one hundred entries have been filed for this weekend’s racing
action at Rockford Speedway which has traditionally seen healthy registration
at the gate.
Action begins on Friday night with practice as well as test time trials while
Championship features as well as the Fabulous Foo Foo races will take place on
Sunday afternoon. This unique event groups cars into time brackets versus the
common divisional separation seen throughout the summer months at United
States short track racing facilities.
Race fans will be treated to two, three and sometimes four wide racing action
as a variety of cars take to the track at the same time. It is not uncommon to
see Dirt Modifieds, Stock Late Models, Mid-American Stock Cars, Dirt Sportsman
and Trucks battling for the same checkered flag.
Adult tickets are $10 on Saturday, $15 on Sunday or two-day tickets are
available for $20. Children ages 6-11 are just $5 each day, with those under
the age of 6 admitted for free.
Racing action begins on Saturday with the www.shorttracknews.com
qualifying at 12:30 and racing at 6PM. Racing action will continue on Sunday
