Milwaukee Mile Winner Prepares For NSTC 06
By: Kevin Ramsell

Wednesday, September 06, 2006 (Loves Park, IL) – Nate Haseleu, fresh off his Wisconsin Challenge Series win at the famed Milwaukee Mile, is one of the early entries for the 41st Annual Chicago International Trucks National Short Track Championships at the Rockford Speedway.  Haseleu will be going for his first NSTC win in the CRA Super Series Chicago International Trucks 200-lap main event on Sunday, September 24th.

“I just want to win it just like everyone else,” Haseleu recently stated.  “It’s a pretty good race, good paying to win.”

Haseleu has had his ups and downs at the famed event.  In 2004, he set a new track record of 13.115 seconds around the high-banked quarter-mile oval.  In 2005, Brian Johnson Jr. beat his year old track record with a new time of 13.105 seconds and Haseleu failed to make the main event.  “I can’t guarantee, but I think we will be better than last year because we were horrible,” Haseleu recalled.  “We are going back to close to what we ran a couple of years ago, and I think that will be better.  We are even going to try to sneak down there and test one day.”

Haseleu did return to the Rockford Speedway for the Spring Classic back in April and finished second in the Wisconsin Challenge Series Spring Classic event.  He is currently on a hot streak in the WCS with capturing the last four victories vaulting him to the top of the point standings.  He is the defending WCS Champion and currently holds a 16-point lead over Kenny Richards with two events remaining.

Back on June 24th, Haseleu took The Swiss Colony/G & M Auto Service Ford Fusion to Illiana Speedway and captured the 5th Annual Elmer Musgrave Memorial 100 CRA Super Series event.  “The win was huge to win in a new series for me,” Haseleu stated.  “It’s tough, there are a lot of good guys running all the time, a lot of full-time racers.  It’s a good accomplishment for me and my team; it got us heading in the right direction this year.”

Haseleu cannot wait to return to the 59-year-old facility, “The more I have gone, the more I have liked it and the little thing you learn of how to pass and things like that.  I have a blast racing there.”

The 41st Annual Chicago International Trucks National Short Track Championships will take place on September 22-24th.  Tickets are now on sale at the Speedway box office by calling (815) 633-1500 or visit the track’s website at www.rockfordspeedway.com.   10 divisions competing in 689 laps of feature racing will make this “One Great Racing Weekend.”
