Bilderback Cruises To His Ninth Rockford Feature Win
By: Kevin Ramsell

Saturday, August 12, 2006 (Loves Park, IL) - Ricky Bilderback extended his point lead as he captured his ninth feature win.  Aaron Rude, Pat Smith, Michael Bilderback, and Sloan Henderson also took home feature wins on Speedway Auto Mall Night at the Races.

Bilderback would hold off Jeremy Miller to capture the NASCAR Late Model division main event.

Brett McCoy was the early leader in the 30-lap feature event.  Bilderback quickly moved from his eighth starting position to fourth by lap 4.  A lap later, he would get past Bill Hobson to take over the third spot.

Bilderback made his move to the lead over a two lap stretch.  On lap 7, he would go on the inside of Josh Nelms and take over second.  While still running on the inside, he would get past McCoy a lap later to take over the lead.

Miller moved from his sixth starting position to second at the halfway mark.  But, he would not be able to chase down Bilderback as he cruised to another feature win.  McCoy would hold on to third with Jerry Gille finishing fourth.  Bob Kahler rounded out the top five.

Rude take home his first Budweiser American Short Tracker feature win.

Rude started on the outside of the front row and grabbed the early lead over pole sitter Brian Harder.

It was not an easy drive for Rude.  In the early going he held off a hard charge from Jason Bragg.  Bragg did get Rude loose once coming off of turn four on lap 17.  Rude was able to keep the lead.  Later on, Nick Cina Jr. had his shot at passing the Pinto but he couldn't get by Rude.  In the final five laps, Rude had to hold off Matt Berger all the way to the checkered flag to get his first feature win.  George Sparkman would come home third with Cina in fourth.  Tim Melvin would round out the top five.

Smith grabbed his fifth feature win in the Coca-Cola RoadRunner division.

Kenneth Brazee III was the early leader in the 20-lap feature event.  Brazee would hold on to the lead until Corey Teran tapped him in turn two causing Brazee to spin.  Teran received the black flag handing the lead over to Smith.

Smith would hold off Terrance Robinson for the win.  Charlie Frisch would take home a third place finish.  Gene Marocco would recover from an early caution to come home fourth.  Jason Van Hise rounded out the top five.

Bilderback would hold off Kyle Lapier for another feature win in the Legends division.

Lapier and Bilderback would lead the 10-car field to the start of the 15-lap feature event.  Bilderback would get the jump at the start.  Lapier would follow Bilderback’s bumper for the first half of the event.  In the second half, Bilderback would pull away from Lapier for the win.  Jeramie Johnson would come home third.

Henderson grabbed the lead at the start of the 12-lap Bandolero feature.  She made the long trip from Franklin, OH to the Rockford Speedway victory lane, holding off Alex Arelano for the feature win.  Tyler Blume came home third.

The evening concluded with the Illinois Camaro Club Parade and Smokey Burnout Competition.
