By: Kevin Ramsell

Saturday, July 22, 2006 (Loves Park, IL) – Ricky Bilderback took home his seventh feature win on Bobcat Night at the Rockford Speedway.  George Sparkman, Gene Marocco and Greg Ihrke also collected feature wins.

Bilderback started sixth in the 30-lap feature event for the NASCAR Late Models.  George Bohn would grab the early lead over Josh Nelms.

Bilderback would move to third by the 3rd lap.  On lap 8, Bohn would continue to lead with Bilderback and Bob Kahler running side by side for second.  On lap 10, Bohn would get loose coming out of turn two.  This allowed Bilderback to rocket to the lead.

Bilderback would pull away from Kahler for the win.  Nelms would bounce back to a third place finish.  Jeremy Miller and fast qualifier Jerry Gille would round out the top five.

Sparkman made another visit to victory lane in the Budweiser American Short Tracker division.

Tim Steger would grab the early lead in the 25-lap feature event.  He would lead the first 11 laps of the event.  Nick Cina moved from his fifth starting spot to take over the lead on lap 12.  On lap 18, Cina would get loose coming out of turn two.  Sparkman moved to low side where he got hit by Cina.  This allowed Cina to get straightened out but Sparkman would take over the lead.

On the last lap, Steger would get together with David Cooter in turn four.  The field easily got past the two as they came to the checkered flag.  At the stripe it was Sparkman with the win.  Matt Berger would come home second with Aaron Rude in third.  Cina and Justin Scott rounded out the top five.

Marocco made it back to back feature wins in the Coca-Cola RoadRunner division.

Lloyd Hawkins was the early leader in the 20-lap feature event.  Hawkins would be challenged by John Logan Jr. on lap 10 for the top spot.  A lap later, Logan would pull away from Hawkins.

Marocco moved his way to the front from his 12th starting spot.  With five laps to go, Marocco would get by Hawkins for second.  With three laps to go, Marocco would get on the inside of Logan and challenge for the lead.  At the line, he would take over the top spot.  At the finish, it was Marocco with his second feature in a row with Logan in second.  Dan Carlson would come home third.  Hawkins and Beau Lawson would round out the top five.

Ihrke started at the rear of the field to come through and win the Classic Modified feature.

Jim Maher had the early lead in the 20-lap feature event.  On lap 3, Ken Osborne got on the inside of Maher to take over the lead.  Ihrke flew through the field and with five laps to go, tried to go by Osborne on the inside.  But Osborne would shut the door so Ihrke went to the outside and easily passed Osborne for the lead with four laps to go.  Ihrke would it the line first with Osborne second.

Over 300 kids took on a Bobcat in a tug-of-war.  At the end, the strength of the kids won over the Bobcat.
