Bragg Takes First Short Tracker Win At Rockford
By: Kevin Ramsell

Wednesday, July 12, 2006 (Loves Park, IL) – Jason Bragg enjoyed his Wednesday night drive as he captured the Budweiser American Short Tracker feature win.  Amy Proehl, Mark Bielefeldt, and Pat Smith also captured feature wins on Unhappy Housewives Night at the Rockford Speedway.

Jack Atchison and Bragg led the field to the start of the 25-lap feature event.  Bragg jumped out the lead with Justin Scott in tow.  BJ Sparkman developed problems on the opening lap and parked it for the night.

Bragg led Scott around in the caution free event.  Scott would get to his back bumper but never contend for the lead as it was a Bragg at the line with Scott in second.  Nick Cina Jr. would move from his sixth starting position to finish third.  Matt Berger and George Sparkman rounded out the top five.

Sabrina Castillo was the early leader in the first 15-lap Winged Women on Wheels feature.  Proehl started fourth and followed Castillo into the second place.

Proehl waited for the right time to get past Castillo, but with three laps to go, Castillo developed engine problems and fell out giving Proehl the lead.  At the finish, it was Proehl with the win with Alicia Magee in second and Linnea Weerda in third.

Amy Flippo would fall victim to a flat tire in the first WWOW feature, thus giving her the pole for the second feature.  Flippo lead the field for the entire second feature race.  Weerda and Proehl would put on a great battle for second.  Weerda would hold off Proehl at the checkered flag.

Proehl first place finish and her third place finish in the second, gave her the overall Winged Women on Wheels feature win.

Mark Bielefeldt held off Ben Montemayor to win the 13-lap Hornet Swarm.  Bielefeldt ran the 13-laps uncontested for the win.  Montemayor had a great battle with Harvey Foster for the second position.

Greg Ballard used a slingshot pass going down the backstretch on the last lap to win the SuperCup Kids feature.  Cody Lipstreuer had the early lead and appeared too had it won until Ballard got by him on the last lap to take the win.

Speed Channel was on hand to capture the Figure 8 feature event along with the Divorcee Demolition Derby.
Pat Smith started sixth in the 12-car Figure 8 feature race.  Jonathan Stoltz took the early lead.  Smith carved his way through the field and took over the top spot on lap 4.

Smith would go on to hold off Chris Gantz to win.

Emily Harris won the Divorcee Demolition Derby.  Four divorced couples went at it in men vs. women demo derby.  Harris was the only car running at the end.  “I didn’t even get to hit my ex-husband,” an excited Harris stated in victory lane.

Both the Figure 8 race and the Demolition Derby will be featured on Lucas Oil “Over the Edge” this winter on Speed Channel.
