Green Mamba Eliminates The WXRX Ambulance
By: Kevin Ramsell

Saturday, July 08, 2006 (Loves Park, IL) – A huge crowd was on hand for the annual Mid-Summer Night Scream at the Rockford Speedway.  The fans witnessed the Green Mamba Jet Car burn the WXRX 104.9 FM Ambulance, the Devastator Monster Truck and Roger Schultz win the Hornet Swarm.

The main event of the evening was Doug Rose and his Green Mamba Jet Car burning the WXRX Ambulance.  Rose, using a J46 Westinghouse engine with an afterburner, F7U Cutlass Twin Engine Navy Fighter, used approximately 6,000 to 7,000 lbs of thrust to burn the ambulance.

The Devastator Monster truck got the fans on their feet when he did a wheelie all the way down the figure 8 frontstretch along with some high-flying jumps.

Schultz only led one lap and it was the important lap in the 20-lap Hornet Swarm.

Ben Montemayor took the early lead in the extended feature event.  Schultz started tenth and worked his way up to the front.

With seven laps to go, Camran Frederick moved from his ninth starting position to take over the lead from Montemayor.  Frederick started to develop motor problems with five laps to go.  Schultz moved past Montemayor for second and started to chase down Frederick.

On the final lap, Schultz went on the inside of Frederick going into turn one.  As the two came out of turn two, it was Schultz with the lead.  Frederick made one last attempt coming off of turn four and at the checkers it was Schultz with the win.

Brian Peter, Adam Krawczuk, and Joe Mercado put on a great California Style Drifting Exhibition for the huge crowd.

Gary Oscarson held off three other competitors to win the Tough Truck Obstacle Course.

Jim Stanis from Rockford took home the Fast & Furious Spectacular Drags.

Charlie Costello held off eight other school buses to win the School Bus Figure 8 race.

This Wednesday night, it’s another great evening of fun racing action with Unhappy Housewives Night featuring the first ever Divorcee Demo Derby.  The Budweiser American Short Trackers, Hornets, Winged Women on Wheels, Figure 8’s, and Spectacular Drags will be in action.  All unescorted ladies will get half price admission along with the Perfect Husband Contest.  The action gets underway at 7:07 p.m.
