Bennett Gets His Second Straight Win At Rockford

Wednesday, June 21, 2006 (Loves Park, IL) – Doug Bennett, Alicia Magee,
Randy Reynolds, and Pat Smith took home feature wins on Salute to Dairy Month
at the Rockford Speedway.
Brandon Eash took the early lead in the 25-lap feature event. First
caution flew on lap 7 when Darrell Garman and Warren Swinbank got together on
the front stretch causing both to spin.
Eash continued to lead at the re-start. Current points leader, Brock
Behnke moved to second and chased down Eash. On lap 20, Behnke tapped
Eash going into turn two causing Eash to spin and bring out the second
caution. Both were sent to the rear.
This handed the lead over to Nason, who held off Doug Bennett for the
win. Garman recovered to finish third. Eash came home fourth with
Behnke rounding out the top five.
Nason failed post-race inspection and was disqualified. This handed the
win over to Bennett.
Amy Flippo started fourth for the first 15-lap feature event for the Winged
Women on Wheels. Sabrina Castillo grabbed the early lead and held on to
it until lap 8 when Becky Proehl worked from her fifth starting position to
take over the top spot.
Proehl held on to the lead until the final lap when Flippo got on the inside
of Proehl going into turn 2 and took over the lead on the backstretch and won
it by a car length.
The second 15-lap feature came down to a photo finish. Linnea Weerda
grabbed the early lead. Alicia Magee moved from her third starting spot
and challenged for the lead with five laps to go. The two swapped the
lead back and forth, racing side-by-side. At the finish it was Magee
barely beating Weerda at the line. While behind them it was Flippo
barely holding off Tammy Hawkins for third. Castillo rounded out the top
five.
Magee’s third place finish in the first and her win in the second gave her
the overall win.
Reynolds took advantage of a re-start to take home the Hornet swarm.
Ben Montemayor took the early lead in the 13-lap event. Reynolds started
tenth and worked his way up to second by lap 8. The caution flew with
six laps to go when Eric Knodle and Kyle Rogers got together going into turn
one. On the re-start, Reynolds got the jump on Montemayor and took over
the lead.
At the finish, it was Reynolds with the win with Roger Schultz coming home
second. Michael Stratton was third with Nick Lasher fourth. Camran
Frederick rounded out the top five.
Pat Smith took passed Dan Carlson on lap 7 to take home the Figure 8 feature
win. Chris Gantz got past Carlson to come home second. Lloyd
Hawkins and Jonathan Stoltz rounded out the top five.
The NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series action returns this Saturday night with
Northwest Bank Kid’s Night. All kids ages 11 and under will be
admitted for free. Plus, there will be a Gold/Silver Rush. The
NASCAR Late Models, Budweiser American Short Trackers, Coca-Cola RoadRunners
and the FIRA Formula Indy cars will be in action. The racing action will
start at 7:07 p.m.
