Miller Stops Bilderback's Streak At Rockford

Saturday, June 17, 2006 (Loves Park, IL) – Jeremy Miller claimed his first
victory of the season at the Rockford Speedway, ending Ricky Bilderback’s
feature win streak at five. Doug Bennett, Rick Nielsen, Ernie Schall and
Dave Cooter also took home feature wins on Craftsman Father’s Day Special at
the Rockford Speedway.
Miller ended the Ricky Bilderback win streak by capturing the NASCAR Late
Model feature.
Mike Beyer and Dave Nauman led the 17-car field to the start of the 30-lap
feature event. Beyer grabbed the early lead over Nauman. Miller
started eleventh and patiently worked his way to the front.
On lap 14, Beyer was leading and was holding off Ryan Carlson and Josh Nelms.
Nelms tapped Beyer coming out of turn two causing Beyer to get loose.
Carlson shot by Beyer on the inside to take the lead. Carlson would then
go on to hold off Jeremy Miller for the win. Bilderback would come home
third with Jerry Gille fourth. John Reynolds Jr. rounded out the top
five.
Carlson failed to past post race inspection and was disqualified. This
handed the win over to Miller.
Bennett held off a late charge from Brock Behnke to capture the 25-lap Grand
National feature event.
Bennett started on the outside of the front row grabbed the early lead.
The first caution flew on lap 8 when Matt Lundberg and Rick Nielsen got
together going into turn one causing both to spin.
Bennett continued the lead until the second caution flew on lap 17 when
Gilbert Brewer and Fred Nason got together on the frontstretch. On the
re-start, Behnke got on the inside row behind Bennett. The two put on a
great side-by-side battle all the way to the checkered flag with Bennett
winning by inches. Chad Smith was third with Darrell Garman and Dennis
Basler rounding out the top five.
Nielsen held off Gene Marocco to grab the trophy in the Coca-Cola RoadRunner
feature division.
Nielsen grabbed the early lead over Chris Gantz at the start of the 20-lap
feature event. Marocco started eighth worked his way to second by lap
9. Marocco had a good side-by-side battle for second with Jon Logan Jr.
but that ended when Logan lost his right front tire on lap 13.
Marocco tried to get past Nielsen with five laps to go, but Nielsen held off
Marocco for the win. Pat Smith came home third with Dan Carlson
fourth. Jason Van Hise rounded out the top five.
Schall moved his seventh starting position to the lead in the opening lap of
the 20-lap feature event for the Legend cars.
Schall held off Ryan Miles to take the win. Best battle of the night was
between Michael Bilderback and Kyle Lapier for third. That battle ended
with two laps to go when Lapier appeared to break his rear axle. Brandon
Allen and Zane Townsend rounded out the top five at the finish.
Dave Cooter took home the 15-lap feature for the Allison Legacy cars.
Cooter grabbed the lead at the start and held off a late challenge from his
son Dave Cooter Jr. for the win. Nick Beinlich finished third with
Collin Laursen and Scott McGinnis rounding out the top five.
It’s another evening of Wild Wednesday racing with a Salute to Dairy
Month. The Grand Nationals, Hornets, Winged Women on Wheels, Figure
8’s and Spectacular Drags will be racing. The first 500 people will
receive milk along with a cow pie toss and cow kissing.
Next Saturday night its Northwest Bank Kid’s Night with children 11 and
under admitted FREE along with a gold/silver rush. The NASCAR Dodge
Weekly Series will be in action with the NASCAR Late Models, Budweiser
American Short Trackers, Coca-Cola RoadRunners, and FIRA Formula Indy cars
will be in action.
