Area Sportsman Race At Rockford July 3

Loves Park, IL- Sportsman drivers from tracks throughout the region are invited to compete at Rockford Speedway on Monday Night July 3 for a 36 lap, $500 to win, $76 to start feature event.  Rockford’s Grand National division will compete with other Area Sportsman drivers for the first ever Grand National/Area Sportsman Challenge. 
 
“We felt it was a great night to invite drivers from other tracks to compete at ours, as most tracks are not racing the Monday night of the fourth of July Holiday.”  Stated Rockford Speedway General Manager Gregg McKarns.  “The Area Sportsman division during our annual National Short Track Championships is one of the most popular and competitive.  I know the same will hold true on Monday night under the lights.” 
 
The Grand National/Area Sportsman Challenge will join the Big 8 Series for the Holiday Special that will also see Fireworks and a post race concert by recording artist Jessi Lynn.  Rockford Speedway Grand National drivers will earn points toward their NASCAR Season Championship totals.  A 76 lap feature event for the Big 8 Series drivers will highlight the evening. 
 
Pit gates are slated to open at 2 PM, an hour and a half practice session will start at 4:15 with qualifying at 6 and the first big race at 7:07 PM.  General Admission adult tickets are $10 with ages 6-11 admitted for $5 and children 5 and under will be admitted free.  To order tickets for this event visit www.rockfordspeedway.com or call the Speedway Box Office at 815-633-1500.
