It's Five In A Row For Bilderback

Saturday, June 10, 2006 (Loves Park, IL) – A huge crowd survived through
four rain delays and witnessed Ricky Bilderback take home his fifth straight
feature win in the NASCAR Late Model division. Matt Berger and Alex
Papini also captured feature wins on Kar Korner World Famous Trailer Race
night at the Rockford Speedway.
Bilderback started 12th for the 30-lap main event. Chad Misslich took
the early lead over Kevin Ramey.
Caution flew on lap 4 when Ramey checked up coming out of turn four causing
Bob Kahler to hit him from behind and turning Ramey into the frontstretch
wall. Brett McCoy and Jerry Gille were also involved.
Misslich continued to lead on the re-start. Jeremy Miller worked his way
up to second from his 10th starting spot. On lap 11, Miller moved his
way up to second and challenged Misslich for the lead. The two were
running side-by-side coming out of turn four when they both touched and both
spun into the infield. This handed the lead over Bilderback.
Bilderback easily cruised to his fifth straight feature win. The large
crowd on hand received half-price chicken at the Rockford area Popeye’s
Chicken and Biscuits for his win.
George Bohn held off Josh Nelms for second. Miller rebounded to a fourth
place finish while Bill Hobson rounded out the top five.
Berger took home his second straight feature win in the Budweiser American
Short Tracker division.
Jeffrey Turnure charged to the early lead in the 25-lap feature event.
Berger started eighth and patiently worked his way to the front. By lap
10, he moved up to the second spot.
It only took three laps for Berger to catch Turnure’s rear bumper.
With 11 laps to go, Berger got on the inside of Turnure going into turn
one. The two bumped and Turnure held on to the lead. A lap later,
Berger made the same move and this time was able to take over the top spot.
Berger went on to win with Turnure finishing second over BJ Sparkman.
George Sparkman and Jason Evans rounded out the top five.
Papini took home his second feature win in the Coca-Cola RoadRunner division.
Rick Nielsen started on the pole and grabbed the early lead. The only
caution flew on lap 4 when Josh Lundy and Bret Clark made contact on the
frontstretch.
Nielsen continued to lead on the re-start. Papini started fourth and
sliced his way to the front. On lap 10, Papini got on the inside of
Nielsen to challenge for the lead. The two battled side-by-side for four
laps until Papini finally got out in front of Nielsen.
Papini would go on to take the checkered flag with Robert Roush coming home in
second after Nielsen spun with three laps to go. Dan Carlson would come
home third with Ricky Weimerskirk and Gene Marocco rounding out the top five.
Tracy Clark and Jim Rosenberger were the final two survivors in the World
Famous Trailer Race. The fans in attendance witnessed the carnage as 19
trailers took on the quarter-mile oval. At the end, there were seven
vehicles piled into turn four and nothing but debris all over the track.
The summer Wild Wednesday Series begins this Wednesday night as AT&T
Yellow Pages Published by R.H. Donnelley presents Chamber Night at the
Races. The Coca-Cola RoadRunners, Hornets, Winged Women on Wheels,
Figure 8, and the spectacular drags will be in action. Racing starts at
7:07 p.m.
The NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series returns next Saturday night with Craftsman
Father’s Day Special. The NASCAR Late Models, Grand Nationals,
Coca-Cola RoadRunners, Legends and Allison Legacy will be in action.
And, kids bring your dad to compete in the Daring Dad’s competition.
The racing action begins at 7:07 p.m.
