Berger And Lasher Win On Friday Night Frights

Friday, May 26, 2006 (Loves Park, IL) – Matt Berger and Nick Lasher took
home feature wins as part of Friday Night Frights at the Rockford
Speedway. The fans were treated to evening of thrills and great racing.
Berger ended the Sparkman streak in the American Short Tracker feature.
Aaron Rude took the early lead in the 25-lap feature event. Rude led the
field around the quarter-mile with great side-by-side battle behind him.
Berger started seventh and followed both George and BJ Sparkman towards the
front. George Sparkman moved his way to second from his sixth starting
spot by lap 5. Five laps later, Berger got on the inside of Sparkman to
take over the second spot.
The caution flew on lap 12 when Tim Steger spun in turns one and two.
Berger chose the inside line on the re-start. Rude continued to lead
while Berger and Sparkman battled for the second spot.
Keith Pierce brought out the second caution with 10 laps to go. Berger
again chose the inside line. This time he was able to battle for Rude
for the top spot. With 8 laps to go, Berger got by Rude and took over
the lead. Rude fell back to fourth.
Berger held off BJ Sparkman at the finish to claim his first feature win of
the year. George Sparkman finished third with Rude in
fourth. Brett McCoy rounded out the top five.
Lasher stayed ahead of the other 28 Hornet competitors to pick up the feature
win.
Ben Montemayor took the early lead in the 13-lap feature event. Lasher
started third and spent most of the event searching for a way to get past
Montemayor. With 4 laps to go, Lasher got a good run on the outside and
passed Montemayor. Lasher would go on to take the checkered flag.
Derek Dobbs got together with Jonathan Stoltz halfway through the Figure 8
feature. Stoltz spun and Dobbs took over the top spot to win the feature
event.
Amy Whitt took the lead on the last lap to capture the Diesel Divas School Bus
Race. Gary Oscarson led the way to win the Figure 8 Trailer race.
Charlie Costello won the School Bus Monza Race.
The Nemesis 3 Monster Truck entertained the fans with spectacular jumps and
wheelies.
The NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series returns on Saturday night with the NASCAR Late
Models, Grand Nationals, Coca-Cola RoadRunners, FIRA Formula Indy Cars and
Rascal Outlaws in action. The action will get underway at 7:07 p.m.
