Road America To Host Vintage Race And Family Tailgate Party
Elkhart Lake, Wis., May 10, 2007–Road America will hold its annual Family
Tailgate Party during its SVRA Spring Vintage Weekend. The Family Tailgate
Party will be held on Saturday, May 19, 2007. The SVRA Vintage Racing Weekend
is a three-day event, May 18-May 20, 2007.
The 8th Annual Family Tailgate Party is held 10 a.m. – 3 p.m.
Admission is free by entering Gate 2 on Hwy 67. The party will feature special
guests Miss Wisconsin–Meghan Coffey, and Dora the Explorer; live music by
Ricky Raybine and the Rays; kids’ golf, fishing, and kick-boxing
demonstrations; craft projects; the Balloon Lady; track tours; a fantastic
classic car show; limited track viewing of the vintage races; and door prizes.
Food sampling is offered with a small fee to benefit local food pantries.
Participation in the kids’ big wheel contest is available by advance
registration by May 18th. Space is limited. Sponsors of the events are
Community Bank, Lake 98.1, Jim Pankow Inc., Plymouth Piggly Wiggly, and the
Sheboygan Press.
The SVRA Spring Vintage Weekend will feature MOTRAH, an all-English race group
with an inter-brand rivalry between Morgans, Triumphs and Austin Healeys. A
field of about fifty cars is expected to race in the MOTRAH group. Another
feature of the event is the 30th anniversary of the S2000. Davina Galica,
winner of the first S2000 race, will be in attendance. Gates will open to the
public each day at 7 a.m. Admission is $40 for the 3-day weekend, $10 Friday,
$20 Saturday and $20 Sunday. Kids 12 and under are always free with a paying
adult. Races run rain or shine.
