Road America Announces 2006 Karting Schedule

Elkhart Lake, Wis., April 13, 2006 - Can you hear the sweet sound of kart engines mixing with the rumble of full size race cars? It’s coming from Elkhart Lake! Nestled inside of Turns 9 and 10 at historic Road America, the Briggs & Stratton Motorplex is a world-class karting facility that provides racers with nearly a mile of thrilling elevation changes, challenging configurations and plenty of room for wheel-to-wheel racing. Karters wishing to take on the demanding corners and high-speed straights of the Briggs & Stratton Motorplex have two exciting series to choose from: 

2006 Road America Kart Club – Weekend Series
Dates: May 27, June 17, July 15, July 29, August 13, August 26, September 30 
Racers have 15 classes to choose from of both 2 and 4 cycle varieties as well as Rotax, TAG and shifter. Practice opens at 9 a.m. and racing begins at 1 p.m.

2006 Tuesday Evening Road America Kart Club
Dates: May 16, May 23, June 6, June 13, June 20, June 27, July 11, July 18, July 25, August 1, August 8, August 15, August 22, August 29

This Tuesday evening series features 4 cycle karts running a shorter version of the track under the lights. Practice opens at 4:30 p.m. with races starting at 7 p.m.

Open Practice
The Briggs and Stratton Motorplex will be open for testing most every Wednesday beginning April 19 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.  Cost is $20 for members, $30 for non-members. Please check www.roadamerica.com or call 1-800-365-RACE for schedule changes due to weather or track activities.

Rotax Kart Challenge Grand Nationals 
September 22-24
Road America is honored to be hosting the 2006 Rotax Kart Challenge Grand Nationals. The top Rotax racers in the country will converge on the Briggs & Stratton Motorplex to decide who will go on to the Rotax World Finals, all while the Champ Car World Series takes over the big track.
