Top Drivers and Manufacturers at Road America for Road America 500 Weekend

Elkhart Lake, Wisc., Aug. 19, 2004 — Road America is hosting six widely-different race series, the National Association of Show Trucks (NAST) with a concours d'elegance (truck show) and the Mazda Xtreme Street Tuner display. Tickets are $20 for Friday, $40 for Saturday and $45 for Sunday. In addition, Road America will allow spectators to drive their cars on the track in touring sessions on Friday, Saturday and Sunday for $50 each day. The American Le Mans Series will race for 500 km; Formula Ford Zetec, STAR Mazda, SPEED World Challenge Touring and GT and the regional Mid-American Stock Cars and Super Trucks plus Tonka's Super Truck series will be on track. At 6 p.m. on Saturday evening, Road America will open the gates to the public for the NAST show trucks "glow," when the owner-operators turn on all of their lights at dusk. Entrance is free. The working 18-wheelers are polished to a high gleam, and points are awarded toward the NAST show truck championship.

Friday is a test and qualifying day. Saturday will include driver autograph sessions beginning at 11:15 a.m., and Sunday is racing, beginning with the Mid-American Stock Cars and Super Trucks at 8:50 a.m. Gates open at 7 a.m. Parking, and children 12 and under are free (with paying adult), and tickets include access to the paddock, where the teams set up.
