More than 450 Vintage Race Cars at Road America
Largest Vintage Race in U.S. Continues Through Saturday and Sunday in Elkhart Lake

Elkhart Lake, Wisc., July 16, 2004 - More than 450 vintage cars will be on the race track Saturday and Sunday at Road America for the Brian Redman International Challenge. Vintage cars will be on track beginning at 8 a.m., and gates open at 7 a.m.  Saturday is practice and qualifying for the cars, with a special Formula Junior race at 5 p.m. for the rare cars. Tickets are $35 for each day, and touring, driving a personal car on the race track, is $75. A concours d' elegance (car show) in the Village of Elkhart Lake Saturday evening is free and open to the public. Children 12 and under are free, as is parking.

The weekend will feature a Formula Junior race on Saturday afternoon at 5 p.m.  The rare formula car class was established to train drivers to compete in the faster Formula One series.

Formula One is the featured marque for the weekend, and 25 of the fast, beautiful and rare cars will be competing on Sunday at 12:55 p.m. CART driving Champion Bobby Rahal is competing in the vintage F-1 race, along with drivers from the Historic Grand Prix (HGP), a group that organizes races.

Road America has published a new history book, Road America: Celebrating 50 Years of Road Racing in anticipation of the 50th birthday in 2005.
