Road America Tailgate Party
Vintage Cars, Free Food, Retired Packer LeRoy Butler at
Road America, Saturday, May 15
Elkhart Lake, Wisc., May 11, 2004—Retired Green Bay Packer free safety LeRoy
Butler
will join Miss Wisconsin, Sponge Bob Square Pants, Ronald McDonald and Alice
in Dairyland
at Road America on Saturday, May 15 for the Road America Tailgate Party. SVRA,
the Sports
Car Vintage Racing Assoc. will be on track beginning at 8 a.m. New for 2004,
the Tailgate Party
will include an Arts and Crafts Fair. Admission to the Tailgate Party is free;
race tickets are $10
Friday, $15 Saturday and $15 Sunday or $30 for the weekend. Entrance to the
Tailgate Party is at
Gate 2. Road America is located about halfway between Green Bay and Milwaukee
on Hwy. 67.

Some 50 vendors will be part of the first Arts and Crafts Fair, selling
antiques, blown glass,
doll clothes, fudge, home and garden items, jewelry, metal creations, water
colors, wood carvings
and other handmade items.
Butler has written a book, The LeRoy Butler Story...From Wheelchair to the
Lambeau
Leap. The retired Packer will have the $24.95 books for sale and will
personalize copies for
$39.95 plus tax and shipping if necessary. Part of the proceeds will benefit
breast and prostate
cancer and the Leroy Butler Foundation.
More than 200 children will participate in the Community Bank and Trust Big
Wheels
Contest, which will begin at 10 a.m. Other activities include grilling
demonstrations by Mad Dog
and Merrill, a WLKN radio-sponsored car show, bicycle helmet fitting by St.
Nicholas Hospital
and track tours. The Plymouth Piggly Wiggly will have food and beverage
sampling, along with
Palermos's Pizza and Sargento Foods. Sprecher Beer and Botham Vineyards will
offer beverage
sampling for those over 21 years old with a photo I.D.
SVRA will field 10 groups of vintage cars Friday through Sunday. Some 200
competitors
from all over the U.S. and their teams and families will be in Sheboygan
County for the annual
spring vintage racing event.
Local businesses involved in the 2004 Tailgate Party include Community Bank
and Trust,
Elkhart Lake Tourism Commission, Jim Pankow Construction, Lake 98.1 and the
Plymouth Piggly
Wiggly.
