Annual Tailgate Party and Open House Includes Children's Activities, Vintage
Race Weekend
Elkhart Lake, Wisc., Feb. 25, 2004—Road America will host its first Arts &
Crafts Fair during the fourth annual Tailgate Party and Open House, according to
George Bruggenthies, president and general manager. The event features free
admittance to the Tailgate Party and free food and beverage sampling. This year
guest appearances by cartoon character Sponge Bob Square Pants, Ronald McDonald
and Miss Wisconsin will highlight the day. Guests also will be able to watch
vintage racing from the Turn 14 bleachers. Race event tickets, which include
access to the paddock, are $10 for Friday, and Saturday and Sunday tickets are
$15 each. Children 12 and under are free with a paying adult.
Community Bank & Trust will again sponsor the Kids' Big Wheel race and
distribute registration forms. Big Wheels will be provided for the
pint-sized racers. Other activities include kids' carnival rides, a car show,
door prizes, helicopter rides and live music by Ricky Raybine & the Rays.
Radio and TV personalities and grillers Mad Dog & Merrill will provide
entertainment and cooking tips.
"We want to keep reaching out to the community and to new audiences,"
said Bruggenthies. "We have a beautiful facility in a beautiful part of the
state. The Arts & Crafts Fair provides another reason for visitors to come
to Road America and enjoy the day. We have plenty of space for the booths and
for parking and activities for the entire family to enjoy."
A new addition to the community picnic, the one-day Arts & Crafts Fair is
open to artists and crafters. Booths begin at $10 for a 10 x 10' space.
Tents, tables and chairs are available for rent through Road America.
Applications are available by calling 920.892.4576, or via e-mail, gail@roadamerica.com
