Hot Night At Plymouth Dirt Track
(Plymouth) Despite the 95 degree weather on Saturday afternoon, racing went
underway as normal at Plymouth Dirt Track. The order for the evening was Late
Models, Grand Nationals, Sprints, and Outlaw Compacts.
George Scheffler (Waukesha) picked up the win in the first heat race over Bret
Sievert (Mukwanago). Todd Jensema (Sheboygan Falls) won the second heat, and
Russ Scheffler (Waukesha) won the third. Turk Letizia of Milwaukee won the
fourth and final heat race for the Late Models.
Ted Dolhun Sr. (Menominee Falls) won the B-main feature in the Late Model
Division, and picked up the transfer into the forty lap A-main. Gordy Seigert
(Oostburg), Bill Rezutek (Big Bend), and Ron Stroika (Mukwanago) also picked
up transfer spots by finishing in the top four in the B-main.
The forty lap A-main feature saw Sievert made a hard charge to the lead in the
race, and took the win over Russ Scheffler.
The point standings for the Late Models as of July 8, 2006 has Dan Sorce
(Franklin) holding a lead of eight points over Randy Markwardt
(Sheboygan)
The Grand Nationals had four heat races, with Scott Sohrweide (Chilton)
winning the first heat race, and Doug Teunissen (Sheboygan Falls) won the
second heat. LUke Scholton (Oostburg) grabbed the checkers in the third
heat over Plymouth's Ben Schmidt. Jeremy Sauter (Random Lake) edged out Greg
Kempf (Kiel) by about a foot in the fourth and final heat.
Don Sorce of West Allis picked up a win in the B-main over Dave Gorny. They
picked up the transfers into the A-main. Loren Lubach (Sheboygan) and Will
Sorce (Franklin) also picked up transfers.
In the A-main action, it looked as if Brad Mueller (Random Lake) had the race
in the palm of his hand, but the caution came out, and closed up the field.
Jeremy Sauter continue his trend of the evening and beat Sohrweide to the line
for the win.
In the points, Brian Genske leads Doug Teunissen by sixty points.
Sprints had a wild night with three cars taking a tumble in there heats, and
the A-main.
Mike Kertcher, who was in John Sauermilch's No. 51j Sprint, won the first of
the four heat races.Robbie Wirth (Milwaukee) took a tumble in the second heat,
and was ok. Brian Portschy (Oostburg) eventually charged to the win in
the second heat, and Michael Emme (Manitowoc) followed suit in the third heat.
Jerry Ski of Milwaukee worked the high side around the track and grabbed the
win in the fourth and final heat race for the Sprint cars.
Danny Schlafer (Sussex) won the first B-main in the Sprints over Rob Pribnow (Lomira)
and Barry Maas (Cascade), all three transfered into the A-main. While the
second heat race saw rookie Earl Possi from Escanaba, MI win by out pacing
Shane Wenniger (Kewaskum). Both drivers also transfered into the A-main.
Adam Miller (Plymouth) hit a tire entering turn one during the A-main, and
rolled his car end over end one time before coming to a rest on all four
wheels. He was alright. Dave Enders (Kiel) started on pole, and never looked
back. Later on into the race Portschy tumbled his car end over end five or six
times, and jumped a concrete barrier at the enterance of turn three. Luckly,
he cleared the barrier, and was alright. Upon the restart Enders went
right back to where he started, but a late charge was mounted by Lance
Fassbender (Burnett), however, he just didn't have enough time to catch
Enders, who took the win.
Enders, who is retiring at the end of this season, currently leads the points
standings over Rob Pribnow by twenty-one points.
In the Outlway Compacts division, Chris Baumann (Elkhart Lake) grabbed the win
in the first of the two heat races. And, Brian Genske won the second heat in
his team car.
Dennis Born in the No. 2 car out ran the field in the A-main, and picked up
the win over Genske.
Currently, Jay Reimer (Sheboygan Falls) holds the points lead for the Outlaw
Compacts. Travis Moehring is in second a mere three points back.
