Kristan Wins First At Plymouth Dirt Track

(Plymouth) It was another high car count night at Plymouth Dirt Track this
past Saturday at the Sheboygan County Fairgrounds. One hundred and twenty-one
cars ready to push the cushion and race to the edge.
Sprint cars were first in the rotation, and had thirty eight cars in the
division. Jerry Ski of Milwaukee won the first heat of the night over Brian
Kristan (Beach Park, IL). The second heat was dominated by Barry Maas
(Cascade).
Lance Fassbender (Burnett), Dave Lisowe (Chilton), and Kurt Davis (Milwaukee)
raced hard to the checkers in the third heat for the sprints, and it was Davis
prevailing over Lisowe by about half of a foot.
Team cars of Tim Haddy (Lomira) and Rob Pribnow (Lomira) took off in the
fourth and final heat race, they would finish one-two, but not after hard
charging Danny Schlafer (Sussex) came from the back up to third by the end of
the first lap.
T.J. Luedke (Plymouth) went to the point in the first of two B-mains on the
night, and beat Earl Possi (Escanaba, MI) and Brian Portschy (Oostburg) to the
flag. In the second B-main, Terry Marten (Sheboygan Falls) had a full
straightway lead by the end of the third lap; he would take the checkers
followed by his teammate Michael Emme (Manitowoc).
In the A-main, Dave Enders (Kiel) and Pribnow were racing wing to wing from
one lap to the next. It seemed that Enders or Pribnow would walk away
with the feature win, but a hard charging Kristan caught them and blew by,
marching to his first win at Plymouth Dirt Track this season.
The Grand National division was second in the rotation. They also had four
heat races.
Brain Genske (Cleveland) out ran Scott Haupt (Belgium) in the first heat,
while Kiel driver Greg Kempf picked up his first win in the second heat. Scott
Sohrweide (Chilton) won the third heat, and Brad Lubach was victorious in the
fourth heat.
Random Lake driver, Jeremy Sauter picked up the win in the B-main over Brain
Kaat (Plymouth) and Will Source (Franklin). Picking up the fourth and final
transfer into the A-main was Chris Seehaver (Manitowoc).
The A-main Brad Mueller of Random Lake used the high groove to get to the lead
and win the race over Tony Miller, also from Random Lake. Brad Dahmer
(Sheboygan Falls) was third, and Kaat was fourth.
The Late Models had four heats to race qualify in for the A-main. . Milwaukee
driver Al Atkinson picked up the first heat win over fellow Milwaukee driver
Jim Letizia. Rick Scheffler (Waukesha) won the second heat over Charlie
Schmidt (Oostburg).
In the third heat, Ted Dolhun Sr. (Menomonee Falls) grabbed the win by
outrunning Jim Schmidt (Cleveland) and Todd Jensema (Sheboygan Falls), and
George Scheffler (Waukesha) won the final heat over Russ Scheffler (Waukesha).
Ray Reiss of Kiel won the B-main with Frank Geiger (Whitelaw) finishing
second, and Bill Rezutek (Big Bend) coming in third.
Russ Scheffler, who finished second in his heat, came back and won the A-main
feature of the night. Dan Source (Franklin) was second, and Jim Schmidt
(Cleveland) was third.
In the Outlaw Compact division, there were three heat races. Kevin Genske won
the first heat in the No. 87 team car over Jay Riemer (Sheboygan
Falls).
Mari Gonwa of Plymouth picked up the win in the second heat. Scott Long
(Waldo) finished second. And in the third heat, Elijah Reiss of Kiel out ran
Justin Poenitsch for the win.
Travis Moehring (Sheboygan) picked up the win in the A-main feature for the
Outlaw Compacts, which saw two roll-overs in two separated incidents. Both
drivers were ok.
E. Reiss came in second and S. Long was third.
