Schlafer, Specht, Lubach and Riemer Win At Plymouth Dirt Track
by Staci Abrahamson

(Plymouth) 115 drivers came out to race at Plymouth Dirt Track in the Sheboygan County Fairgrounds this Saturday night.

The sprint cars were first in the rotation for the night. 40 cars competed in four heats, to B-mains, and one A-main. Kenjay Fiedler (Sheboygan), Robbie Pribnow (Lomira), K.J. Skelton (Cascade) and Jerry Fahl (Brown Deer) were the heat winners.

Drivers John Sauermilch (Sheboygan) and Dale Bodden (Muskego) both wound up taking a tumble in two separate races; they, luckily, were okay.

Transfering to the A-main by winning in the two B-mains were Michael Emme (Manitowoc) and Tim Haddy (Lomira). Chirs Wiser (Neosho) and Brian Perl (St. Peter) also picked up transfer spots into the A-main, finishing runner-up to Emme and Haddy.

Midwest Sprintcar Association (MSA) and Plymouth Point leader in the sprint division Danny Schlafer (Sussex) rocketed from the get go in the 25-lap A-main. He kept his hot rod at the point from flag to flag. Kenjay Fiedler finished second behind him, with K. J. Skelton hot on his tail.

The late models were up to bat after the sprints.  Nate Winkel of Sheboygan Falls picked up his first checkered of the season when he won the first heat race. Track dominators Scott Specht (Sheboygan Falls) and Russ Scheffler (Waukesha) paced the fields in the next two heat races.

Dan Source of Franklin charged to the head of the pack in the B-main for the outlaws out running Mark Zimmerman (Kohler) and Jim Letizia (Milwaukee).

In the A-main, Scott Specht booked it too the lead and never looked back. He would take home his second A-main checkered flag this season, along with the 64 points that go along with it.

Grand National’s were on deck after the late models. Being there were 30 cars out there in the division, there were four heat races. Tony Miller (Random Lake), Scott Sohrweide (Chilton), Brian Genske (Cleveland), and "Uncle" Brian Kaat (Plymouth) all picked up wins in the heats.

Sheboygan Falls driver Doug Teunissen beat Jeremy Sauter of Random Lake to the line in the B-main.

Brad Lubach of Elkhart Lake picked up  his first A-main  win and  fifth total this season by out running Jamie Gauger (Sheboygan Falls).

In the Outlaw Compacts divison, points leader Josh Long (Waldo) charged ahead in the first  heat for his fourth flag of the season at PDT.  Kurt Jakubowski of Sheboygan Falls grabbed his first win of the season in the second heat.

Jay Riemer of Kohler got to the point in the 15 lap A-main feature and topped father-son racers Scott and Josh Long, who finished second and third respectively.

It was a great night to get back into the racing after the break due to weather from last week, and a good springboard for great racing action to come at Plymouth Dirt Track.
