Genske, Wondra, Scheffler and Riemer Take Checkers At Plymouth
by Staci Abrahamson

(Plymouth) It was the third night this season with 104 cars looking to tear it up at Plymouth Dirt Track this Saturday night.  The Grand National division was the first in the starting shoot to compete for the night.

Dean Horneck of Keil picked up his third flag of the season by winning the first of three heat races for the division.  Brad Lubach (Elkhart Lake) got his fourth win of the season in the second heat race.

Fans saw Donny Kuhlow of Plymouth win his first race of the season in the third heat.

Roger Johnson (Saukville) also won his first race of the season by out racing the eight  car field, he unfortunately had problems during the A-main and finished last in that race.

Last week’s A-main winner, Brian Genske (Cleveland), picked up right where he left off and smoked the field in the A-main feature, lapping half the field and winning by over half a lap over Tim Anderson (Sheboygan). Tony Miller of Random Lake finished third behind them.

They set a new track record for an  A-main by running it in just over seven minutes.

Sprint cars had an equally exciting night. Al Sclafer (Sussex) won the first heat, while Robbie Pribnow of Lomira continued on his hot streak of late and won the second heat. Al Schlafer’s son Danny Schlafer won his 64th race in the third heat, and Craig Sueffner picked up his first win in the No. 47 sprint.

Chris Wiser (Neosho) got his fourth win of the season at PDT in the first B-main.

"Feels pretty good. I don’t like being the king of the B-mains, but its pretty good," said Wiser after the win.

T. J. Luedke (Plymouth) picked up his 13th career and second checkered flag when he beat Scott Semmelmann (Brookfield) to the finish line in the second B-main, where Craig Hemmen wound up rolling, but was O.K.

Lomira driver Troy Wondra  picked up his first A-main feature win by dominating the race flag to flag. Tim Haddy, also of Lomira, charged to second, while Terry Marten of Sheboygan Falls finished third.  There were 22 Late Models racing three heats, one B-main, and a caution riddled A-main feature.

Charlie Schmidt  (Oostburg) won the first heat, that being his third heat win of the season.  Russ Scheffler in his No. 74 late model grabbed his second heat checkered flag of the season with his win of the second heat race.  Scott Specht, the points leader out of Sheboygan Falls, continued his domination at PDT and won the third heat for his 6th flag this season.

"Milwaukee Madman" Al Atkinson came back after some problems in his heat race to win the B-main over Jim Schmidt of Cleveland.

Russ Scheffler grabbed his third A-main feature win this season over Rick Scheffler (Wuakesha) and Scott Cramer (Random Lake), who looked like he had the car to beat the first half of the race.

In the Outlaw Compacts, Travis Moehring (Sheboygan) won the first heat, and high school student Brian Biller (Glenbulah)  won his first race in the second heat. Corey Edler, the "Junkyard Dog," picked up his 8th flag this season in the third heat—it is the 9th flag of the car.

Jay Riemer of Kohler, the 2004 Rookie of the Year, picked up the 15 lap A-main feature win for the night. Corey Edler was the runner up.
