Scheffler, Kristan And Sohrweide Win At Plymouth
Staci Abrahamson

(Plymouth) The Plymouth Dirt Track Racing Series went back underway this weekend for the first time in three weeks due to a rain out and the World of Outlaws taking over last week. PDT saw its highest car count yet with 107 cars ready to rumble in their respective divisions.

The Grand Nationals were the first to go out and get their heats raced.  Elkhart Lake driver Brad "the Shifter" Lubach picked up the first heat win, while Matt Yancey of Sheboygan Falls, and Scott Sohrweide of Chilton picked up wins in the other two heat races.

Chris Seehaver of Manitowoc won the B-main. He was followed by rookie Troy Theobald (Sheboygan Falls) and Brian Goestch (Sheboygan).

There was 20 cars in the A-main feature for the Grand Nationals was an exciting one. Brian Kaat was spun out by Brian Genske (Cleveland), both drivers were sent to the back. It was Scott Sohrweide who went to the point and picked up his second A-main feature win of the season.

The sprint cars had four heat races with Danny Schlaffer (Sussex), Tim Haddy (Lomira), Michael Emme (Manitowoc), and Brian Kristan (Beach Park, IL) all picking up checkered flags in the heats.

The two B-mains were extremely exciting with Barry Maas (Cascade) rolling his car end over end in turn four, luckily he got out of the car and was okay after the wreck.

Chris Wiser (Neosho) picked up the win over Joe Wipperfurth (Sun Prairie).  In the second B-main Scott Sippel (Elkhart Lake) went from dead last on the field to finish second, after leading a handful of laps.  Terry Marten had the last word and grabbed the lead on the last lap for the win.

Brian Portschy (Oostburg), and Troy Wondra (Lomira) both flipped their cars in separate incidents, but came out unhurt. Brian Kristan hammered down the accelerator and found the high groove to be his winning line as he drove it away for his first A-main feature win of the season.  Charlie Schmidt (Oosturg), Russ Scheffler (Waukesha) and Rick Scheffler (Waukesha) picked up heat wins in the Late Model division. While R. W. Aschebrenner, grabbed the win in the B-main.

Russ Scheffler won the A-main feature for the second time this season. He was followed by Scott Specht (Sheboygan Falls) and Mark Zimmermann (Kohler).  Dave Dorzok  won the first Outlaw compacts heat race in Corey Edler’s car.  While Aaron Hauck of Plymouth picked up the second heat win.
