It's "Friday Night Lights" For The Big 8 Series
By: Kevin Ramsell
Monday, May 14, 2007 (Loves Park, IL) – Madison International Speedway, well
known for its “Friday Night Tradition”, will welcome the Big 8 Series to
its program on Friday, May 18th. Wisconsin’s fastest half-mile oval
will play host to round two as part of its Friday night program.
“There is one word that keeps coming up in racing and that is tradition,”
Big 8 Series Promoter, Gregg McKarns recently stated. “For the Big 8
Series to be welcomed to MIS as part of their Friday night tradition is a big
honor and we are planning on giving everyone a great show.”
Last year, Jeremy Miller took home his first Big 8 Series win driving for Jon
Reynolds, Sr. at MIS. This year, defending MIS champion Bobby Wilberg
will pilot the Reynolds owned machine while Miller will be piloting his own
late model. Miller is off to a strong start this season after posting a
second place finish behind winner Mike Ehde at the opening event at the
Rockford Speedway.
While Miller failed at his bid to win the Big 8 Series championship, he did
capture the track championship last year at Madison.
Along with these two track champions, expect to see six-time Rockford Speedway
champion, Ricky Bilderback and Lake Geneva Millennium Series champion, Sonny
Schoffen also competing.
It promises to be a battle of track champions under the lights at Madison
International Speedway.
The pit gates open at 3:30 p.m. with practice from 4:45 – 6:30 p.m.
Qualifying will start at 6:30 p.m. with the racing action getting underway at
7:30 p.m.
Madison International Speedway is located at 1122 Sunrise Road in Oregon, WI.
Off of Hwy. 138 between Oregon and Stoughton. The track’s website is www.madisoninternationalspeedway.com.
