Happy Thanksgiving from Madison International Speedway.

Here's what's happening at Wisconsin's Track of Champions where the stars shine on Friday nights.

A Message from Terry Kunes

Steve Einhaus has left his employment at Madison International Speedway to start an exciting new venture. Steve along with Tim Olson of I-94 Speedway in Minnesota have joined forces to start a new racing series called the ASA Midwest Tour. Their series will be racing at tracks in Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Illinois and we at MIS wish them great success.

I want to thank Steve for all he did for us at Madison International Speedway and he will be missed. He, along with Dave Grueneberg and the great staff they put together made 2006 the best year we've had since I have owned the track. We will do all we can to support him in this new venture and he is committed to helping MIS on an ongoing basis.

I also want to take this opportunity to thank all of the drivers, teams, sponsors, and fans who through your loyal and continued support allow us to enjoy a sport we all love. We are looking forward to 2007 and plan to continue growing our racing and entertainment programs to the highest level possible. Please continue to watch our website and the MIS E-News for all of the exciting releases about the 2007 racing season.

Thank You from Steve Einhaus

"Three years ago Terry Kunes gave me a great opportunity to Promote one of the greatest shorttracks in the country and my position at MIS gave me the tools that I needed to take the next step ahead in my career. I can't thank him enough for his support and I will continue to help MIS in any way that I can."

2007 Racing Season Taking Shape

Plans are currently being finalized for the 2007 racing schedule at Madison International Speedway according to MIS general manager Dave Grueneberg.

As previously announced MIS will feature three weekly divisions in 2007: Madison Late Models, Limited Late Models, and Bandits. A rotating fourth division will also be on the racing program each week.

"We will have a variety of different divisions coming to race at MIS in 2007, but the bottom line is we want three very solid weekly divisions, " said Grueneberg, who indicated he has been talking with a number of different series who would like to come to MIS. "The fans are really going to enjoy the variety of divisions that will take to the track in 2007," added Grueneberg.

Fans may notice the name change for the former Madison ASA Late Model divisions. This division will feature the same type of car as it has been for the past three years but with a slightly new name. This weekly series is unique to MIS so we wanted to call it the Madison Late Models. Another reason for the name change is to avoid any confusion that may occur with two "ASA" divisions running in the midwest.

Grueneberg also added that fans will be seeing more super late model racing at MIS in 2007. "We are looking at at least five super late model special events this year. We haven't quite finished the schedule yet, but I know the fans are going to be very happy with the drivers we will have coming to race at MIS in 2007."

Mark your calendars for the 2007 season opener which is scheduled for Sunday, May 6th when the WCS comes to MIS. The Friday night opener will be May 11th.

Drivers and teams are urged to monitor our website for any adjustments in the rules related to our weekly divisions.

Website Updates

New in 2007 will be a driver profile page on our website. Beginning in early 2007 I will be asking drivers to provide me with a brief biographical sketch along with a list of sponsors. This information will then be posted on our website so that fans can directly access the information we share over the PA each week.

MIS E-News Driver Profiles

Attention Drivers...If you are planning on racing with us in 2007 be sure to send me your information so that I can feature it here on the MIS E-News. We want to help promote you, your team, and your sponsors, but we need the appropriate information.

MIS Turn Four Kids Club

There is no question that the MIS Turn Four Kids Club reached a new level last year with record membership numbers and the number of prizes given away. Credit for this goes to Chuck West who has tirelessly committed himself to making MIS a great place for kids.

Chuck is already putting things together for 2007. If you would like to be part of the Kids Club and donate items for the kids or have any suggestions please contact Chuck at chuckwest1688@gmail.com

Picture This

MIS track photographer Doug Hornickel has a wide variety of racing photos available from the 2006 season. These photos would be great for the scrapbooks or given as gifts. You can reach Doug at doogie2@charter.net

See The Action Up Close

From the guy who put cameras in cars and mounted a camera on the front stretch wall, Jake Roth of Miracle Video has videos of nearly every race in 2006 available. You can contact Jake at miraclevideo@msn.com

Thanks to Doug and Jake for their outstanding work at MIS.

Planning for 2007 Yearbook

I am looking for suggestions for the 2007 edition of the MIS Yearbook. I'd like to know what you would like to see. Drivers and / or fans who would be interested in submitting a story for the yearbook are encouraged to contact me.

Suggestion Box is Open

We encourage your suggestions for ways to make the racing program or our facility at MIS the best it can possibly be in 2007. I have included our email addresses and phone numbers and we welcome your thoughts. We look forward to hearing from you.

That's all for now. Happy Thanksgiving everyone!!!
