MIS E-News
Week of September 18, 2006
by John Wells
During the off-season the MIS E-News will come out twice monthly...more often
if we have special announcements. We will be using the E-News as our primary
communication tool besides our website at www.madisoninternationalspeedway.com.

It's hard to believe that the 2006 racing season at MIS is now in the record
books. Let's look back at some of the highlights.
A new addition to the MIS family was born in 2006 when the quarter mile was
added. Three weekly divisions took to the quarter mile including the debut of
the hobby stocks and bandits. The new track opened up many opportunities for
drivers who heretofore were unable to race at MIS to join us each week.
Over 10,000 fans came to MIS for the RK Race Promotions event in June
featuring Matt Kenseth and Tony Stewart along with a talented group of Madison
ASALM drivers.
Point races in the Weaver Auto Parts Madison ASA Late Models and Club La Mark
Hobby Stocks literally went down to the wire in 2006. Bobby Wilberg made it
two in a row with a second place finish in the final race to take home his
seventh track championship at MIS. Mike "The Spike" Storkson
spins, goes to the rear, and finishes strong to win the hobby stock crown.
Tyler Kelley became the youngest track champion ever at MIS as the fifteen
year old from Oregon won the Roto Rooter Bandit title. Kelley led the points
race from start to finish.
Scott "Chico" Riedner was not only dominant enroute to his title at
MIS (Six feature wins) but also picked up the championship at the Jefferson
Speedway.
Kelly Bires made the most of his appearances at MIS by picking up two major
wins.
The USAC Midgets returned to MIS after a several year absence and raced on the
quarter mile. The HOSS sprints returned but were unable to set a new track
record.
Many more memorable events took place in 2006. You can read about all of them
by going to our website.

MIS at LGR This Saturday Night
This Saturday night Madison International Speedway will be one of the sponsors
for the final season championships night at Lake Geneva Raceway. This would be
a great opportunity to come out and check out LGR before the lights go out for
the final time in a few weeks.
A special thank you to all of the LGR Super Stocks who joined us at MIS on
September 8.
Attention Drivers and Teams:
Day at the Races is planned for downtown Janesville on Saturday, September
23rd. The Janesville Farmers Market will be hosting this event which will take
place in the 100 and 200 blocks of Main Street. The Farmers Market opens at
8:00 AM so cars should arrive by 7:00 AM. This is a great opportunity to meet
your fans and make new ones.
For more information contact Chris Stocks.

MIS School-Business Partnership
This past week Steve Einhaus visited with my fifth grade class at Waubesa
Intermediate School in McFarland. MIS and my students are part of the school
business partnership program that has been organized by the McFarland School
District. The twenty-three kids were excited about receiving t-shirts,
yearbooks, and other prizes and are eagerly looking forward to planning a
McFarland Night at MIS for next May.
To have MIS visit your local school please contact Steve at 630-212-6022.
