Sauter Ready To Challenge Hooters Pro Cup Field At MIS

Wednesday, July 26, 2006 (Oregon, WI) - Current Madison ASA Late Model point leader Travis Sauter of Necedah is eagerly awaiting his chance to join the field of the USAR Hooters Pro Cup Northern Series drivers when they come to Madison International Speedway on Saturday, August 19th.

The Sauter name is long synonymous with the best in Wisconsin racing as Travis' grandfather Jim is a former Winston Cup driver, and uncles Jay and Johnny along with his father Tim are all current NASCAR Busch Series drivers.

Sauter is hoping to drive the Darin Odle Racing owned car that Joe Gaita drove at MIS in 2005 and finished fifth. “We looked at doing this last year, but we couldn’t quite pull it together. I got to drive the car in practice and really liked it. I’ve kind of kept this in the back of my mind and the opportunity has presented itself for this year,” said Sauter.

Travis began racing in 2003 when he piloted a super stock at the Dells Motor Speedway.  Before long he was racing super late models and he is now in his third season competing at Madison International Speedway.  Besides leading a very competitive fields in the championship chase, he has one feature win to his credit in 2006.  When asked about his current Madison ASA Late Model point lead, Sauter said, "We've been consistent and that's what it takes to win championships."

In order to make his USAR Pro Cup debut happen, Sauter is looking for sponsorship. “This is a great opportunity for me. I think it’s important to have some local drivers in this event, but I am going to need sponsorship help,” added Sauter.

Potential sponsors are encouraged to contact Sauter at 608-547-3554.
