Riedner, Newton And Trute Win The Checkered Flags At MIS
Saturday, July 22, 2006 (Oregon, WI) - Kyle Riedner, Nick Newton, and Dave
Trute took home feature wins as part of Schmidt’s Auto of Madison Night of
Destruction.
Kyle Riedner picked up his third feature win of the year in the Roto Rooter
Bandits.
Stephen Scheel and Bradnon Skolaski brought the ten car Roto Rooter Bandit
field to the green flag in their twenty five lap Battle of the Bandits.
Scheel took the early lead followed by Jody Schmidt and Alex Jones. By
lap five Tyler Kelley and Kyle Riedner were up to second and third
respectively.
On lap twelve Kelley was able to pass on the inside for the lead with Riedner
right behind in second. From that point on Riedner tried to close the
gap on Kelley as the two teenagers put on a great race. On lap twenty
one Riedner pulled to the inside and made the move to get by Kelley and take
the lead. Riedner was able to hold off Kelley for the win followed by
Scheel, Kyle Padfield, and Schmidt.
Heat races were won by Kyle Riedner and Rory Padfield.
Nick Newton was victorious in the twenty-five lap feature for the Club
La Mark Hobby Stocks.
Mike Storkson and Rodger Stephenson paced the field of ten hobby stocks to the
green flag in the Club La Mark Hobby Stock Showdown. Storkson took
command of the race early with Jim Robinson up to challenge him for the lead
by lap five.
Storkson had a mirror full of Robinson for most of the race with Robinson
trying both the inside and the outside to get by for the lead. On lap
twenty-two Robinson made contact with Storkson coming out of turn four
spinning him into the third place car of Andy Raley. The incident sent
all three to the rear and catapulted Nick Newton to the lead followed by Alan
Dorn.
When the green waved again it was Newton up for the challenge as he hung on to
pick up his first win of the season in the Club La Mark Hobby Stocks.
Heat races were won by Johnny Robinson II and Jason Brewster.
Dave Trute made the most of his first visit to MIS by winning the twenty five
lap feature for the Pure Stocks.
Cliff Christianson and Jamie Dunn brought the field of seven cars to the green
flag for their twenty-five lap feature. Dennis Stilson moved up from his
second row starting position to take the lead on the second lap with Dave
Trute and Mike Litchfeld up to challenge.
The caution flag came out on lap eleven when Stilson and Trute got together
giving Litchfeld the lead. After the green flag came out Litchfeld
quickly built his advantage over the field with Leo Schultz eight car lengths
back in second. Litchfeld continued to lead with Schultz gaining ground
when on lap nineteen the caution came out for a spin.
On the restart it was Trute who proved to be the fastest as two laps
later he took the lead with Schultz getting by Litchfeld on lap later for
second. From there it was all Trute who picked up the victory followed
by Schultz and Litchfeld.
Several unique racing events also took to the track as part of the Night of
Destruction. Tommy “Trubble” McTague thrilled the audience by flying
over 150 feet in the air; Benny “The Bomb” Koske safely climbed out of his
car after blowing it up; and local drivers participated in a gauntlet race,
train race, and blindfold race.
The Midwest Enduro Series took to the track for 150 laps of action with nearly
fifty cars taking the green flag. Mike Kasparek was the overall winner
of the event.
Racing continues on Friday night July 28th with Star Packaging / Pomp’s Tire
Night at the races featuring action in all five divisions: Weaver Auto
