Rain Steals The Green Flag At MIS
Friday, July 21, 2006 (Oregon, WI) - Due to persistent rain showers that began
falling in the early afternoon, MIS officials cancelled the racing program for
Friday, July 21st. "We really weren't expecting rain but once it
started it hung around," said MIS promoter Steve Einhaus who noted that
this was the second rainout of the 2006 season.
Weekly racing continues on Friday, July 28th with Star Packaging Night that
now will feature action in all five divisions: Weaver Auto Parts Madison
ASA Late Models, Rockweiler Insulation Limited Late Models, Bryden Motors Area
Sportsman, Club La Mark Hobby Stocks, and Roto Rooter Bandits. The
Wayne's Custom DIECAST Dash will also be run for the limited late models.
"We wanted to make sure the limited late models had an opportunity to run
so we've added them to Star Packaging Night," noted Einhaus.
Exciting point races are shaping up in all five weekly divisions at MIS.
Travis Sauter of Necedah currently sits on top of the leader board in the
Weaver Auto Parts Madison ASA Late Models with a 436-398 advantage over
defending track champion Bobby Wilberg of Orfordville. Rounding out the
top five are Jesse Saunders of Janesville, Nathan Haseleu of Pardeeville, and
Sun Prairie's Nick Hammer. The closest point race can be found in the
Rockweiler Insulation Limited Late Models where Jeremy Miller of Rockton,
Illinois, holds a 284-273 lead over Wilberg. Wilberg, who made
history at MIS in 2005 by winning two divisions, is attempting to repeat that
accomplishment in 2006. Rounding out the top five are Bill Baumeister of
Janesville, Jerry Gille of Rockford, Illinois, and David Naumann of
Waunakee. Scott Riedner of Waunakee and Scott Lawver of Roscoe,
Illinois, are currently one-two in the Bryden Motors Area Sportsman with past
Sportsman champion Riedner holding a 47 point lead at 562-515. Casey
Burns, Ryan Goldade, and Shaun Scheel round out the top five. With a
points race scheduled for Saturday, July 22nd, Johnny Robinson II of Beloit
and Tyler Kelley of Oregon lead the Club La Mark Hobby Stocks and Roto Rooter
Bandits respectively.
