Pomp's Tire Night comes to MIS this Friday with action in all five racing

Night of Destruction and Thrills Coming to MIS on July 22nd
One of the wildest and craziest nights in the history of Madison International
Speedway will take place on Saturday, July 22nd when Schmidt’s Auto Salvage
and Towing of Madison presents the Night of Destruction and Thrills. A unique
schedule of events will surely entertain audiences of all ages. Here is just a
taste of what fans can expect on the Night of Destruction and Thrills at
Madison International Speedway. Nationally known stuntman Tommy “Trubble”
McTague will be attempting to successfully complete “The Suicide Spiral.”
McTague will literally take to the skies when he flies his car over 150 feet
through the air. The thrills will come back down to earth when Benny “The
Bomb” Koske takes center stage. Koske will have the hottest seat in the
place when the car he is sitting in literally explode around him. For fans of
total mayhem and destruction, the monster truck “Nemesis” will be on hand
to jump and crush everything in its path.
A variety of unique racing events will also be taking place on the quarter
mile. These include a blindfold race, gauntlet event, and train race. The
blindfold event will feature a blindfolded driver taking instructions from a
passenger who can see. The train race involves a group of three cars chained
together and racing against other cars like it. The “Gauntlet” race will
feature a full-size car trying to maneuver around the speedway with a series
of cars doing everything to prevent that from happening. Drivers interested in
participating in these events are encouraged to contact the track office at
608.835.9700.
The Midwest Enduro Series will also be in action with over 60 cars taking to
the quarter mile competing in the Steve’s 51 / Newville Auto Salvage 150.
The series has been to MIS in the past but this will be the first time on the
quarter mile as bumper to bumper and wheel to wheel racing is guaranteed.
Two MIS weekly divisions will also take to the track with the Hobby Stock
Showdown and Battle of the Bandits. Drivers in these divisions are encouraged
to contact the track office for more information. The action gets started at
6:00 PM. Adult admission is just $15.00 with children eleven and under
admitted free. For more information check out our website at www.madisoninterantionalspeedway.com

Looking Back to Friday Night
Summer in Wisconsin...warm nights and exciting racing! Congratulations to
Bobby Wilberg for winning his second Madison ASA Late Model feature of 2006
and Chris Ehrhart and David Naumann for picking up their first wins of the
season. What appeared to be a second place finish for Rory Padfield actually
turned into a victory when Kyle Stark's car failed post race inspection.
Naumann's last feature win goes back to his Midwest Modified championship year
in the late-1990's. David has a variety of racing experience at MIS in super
lates, limited lates, and modifieds.
Good run for Ehrhart and his #6 car in a smaller than normal Bryden Motors
Area Sportsman field as he held off a hard charging Scott Riedner who was
going for win #5.
Padfield has been right in the mix all season long and gave it everything he
had to get by Stark in the Bandit feature. I have to believe we'll see Rory in
victory lane again this year as he already has accumulated five heat wins.
Thanks to the drivers for taking the time to talk to the fans over the PA or
the in-car system. Great to have Daryl Traber from the Midwest Enduro Series
on hand to talk about their 150 lap event at MIS on the 22nd. He got his first
glimpse at the new quarter mile on Friday...should be very interesting to see
upwards of sixty cars doing action out there!
Happy Birthday Bob
Bob Schmelzer will be celebrating his birthday on July 17th! Bob's name is
synonymous with local racing and you can still see Bob at MIS each night
tending the pit gate. Happy birthday Bob. Speaking of the Schmelzer
family...Gary logged hundreds of miles this past weekend attending races in
Indiana and Illnois and capped it off with a trip to State Park Speedway on
Thursday. These guys sure love racing.
Special Thanks To... Jim Naumann and Competition Race Technology for providing
the tower with a radio to communicate with the drivers during the races. Jim
has always been extremely helpful and we are very appreciative of his efforts.
Town of Madison EMS for providing a back up ambulance on Friday night...the
delay in starting the program was a result of mechanical problems with the
Oregon EMS unit.
Werner Electric for their sponsorship on Friday night...what a great group of
people. MIS is a wonderful place for corporate outings and if your business or
organization is interested please contact Debbie or Holly at the track office.
Thank you Wayne...Wayne's Custom DIECAST raised over $400.00 for the American
Cancer Society thanks to the diecast car raffle on Friday night. Thanks to all
of the drivers who signed the car including those who donated money for
tickets.

Chaplain's Corner by Todd Christopherson
Over the last couple of months we have prayed for four different men. God has
answered our prayer and in a way that is too good. We know He does not have to
give us the answer we want for Hmi to be glorfied. Jared came home from the
hospital along with Rich, who even attended a race a couple weeks ago. John
Wood is healing and John G's surgery went well and so did John C from the
safety crew.
God really is too good to us as we do not deserve to have health.
Last week when Zack won, it reminded me of watching him the last couple of
years develop. There are not too many that win right away. It takes time and
work.
It reminded me that God is not looking for us to be cleaned up before we are
saved. He wants us just as we are. Then He wants us to find out what he calls
us to. There is a verse that talks about us progressing, growing. The LORD
wants us to come to Him and grow faithful.
Some think they will "clean up" and then be ready for God. No! Jesus
said He came for the sick, in need. I know I was not "cleaned up,"
matter a fact there is a lot that I need to get "cleaned up. and
out" still today.
So, to those that are right with God, I hope you are growing, progressing. To
others I hope you turn your life over to God now. He is waiting for you. Don't
be late, don't wait.
Drivers and team. Would you like me to stop by and pray with you? Let me know
and I will.
