MIS Announces Schedule Change For August 4th

Wednesday, July 12, 2006 (Oregon, WI) - Officials at Madison International Speedway announced today that the August 4th ASA Late Model Northern Series race has been cancelled. However, a very exciting day and night of racing is in store for drivers and fans alike.

"Our goal at Madison International Speedway is to provide the drivers and the fans with the best racing program possible. We want to focus on our weekly program as much as possible. One of the main factorsin making this decision was that the majority of our weekly drivers indicated their desire to see this remain an MIS points race and many of those same drivers indicated that they would not be participating in the Northern Series event. We also spoke to one of our sponsors for the event and they shared with us their interest in keeping this a weekly points event. The Laborer's Local 464 is the primary sponsor and they have a big night planned with over 1,000 local union members coming out for a day and night of fun. Economically we felt it best to cancel the Northern Series and put together our own show," said MIS general manager Dave Grueneberg.

MIS officials have announced that a full day and night of racing and musical entertainment will be taking place on August 4th. Highlighting the racing program will be a 100 lap feature for the Weaver Auto Parts ASA Late Models with a large car count expected to do battle on Wisconsin's Fastest Half-Mile. The Bryden Motors Area Sportsman, Club La Mark Hobby Stocks, and Roto Rooter Bandits will also be in action. Purse information will be released shortly.

TDS and Trackside Charities will also be part of the racing program that will include an on-track autograph session for all divisions and live music featuring Nashville recording artist the Jessi Lynn Band. Chad Wood / TDS / Trackside Charities will also be raising money for the Dane County Prevention of Child Abuse.

Racing activities will actually get under way in the afternoon with hot lap sessions and qualifying. Specific times are being finalized and will be released shortly.

"We are really excited about what we have planned. We think this is going to great for drivers and fans alike," summarized Grueneberg.
