This Week at MIS
The high-flying 410 winged sprint cars of the Hoosier Outlaw Sprint Series make a return appearance to MIS this Friday night as part of Budweiser / Sun Prairie Night at the races. Joining the sprint cars on the racing program will be the USAC Ford Focus Midget Series who will be making their first-ever visit to MIS. The midgets will be competing on the quarter mile.

Three of our weekly divisions will also be in action: Bryden Motors Area Sportsman, Club La Mark Hobby Stocks, and Roto Rooter Bandits. These will be points races for all three divisions.

Fans can bring their June 11th ticket stub from Angell Park in Sun Prairie for $2.00 off the admission price. Fans attending Friday night's race at MIS can do the same at Angell Park on Sunday, June 18th.

Jimmy McCune is the current points leader in the Hoosier Outlaw Sprint Series (HOSS) who will be making a two race stop in Wisconsin this weekend as they will be competing on the half-mile at Marshfield on Saturday night. Tim Cox, who won last year's race and set the current track record, was at MIS this past Friday and is looking forward to getting a shot at setting a new track record. Check out more about the series at hossracing.com

The current top ten in the Ford Focus Midget Series Asphalt division include Tate Martz, James Robertson, Casey Riggs, Mario Clouser, Chett Gehrke, Ricky Ehrgott, Tyler Irwin, Craig Haack, Lynsey Tilton, and Nick Daugherty.

It will be a great night of racing this Friday at Madison International Speedway...hope to see everyone there.

Time to Rewind...a look back at Friday Night at MIS
Despite the threat of rain all evening and cooler temperatures, the racing action that took place on Friday night was hot!

Wow...the media attention for our first-ever "Faster Pastor" race was unbelievable. Not only were we very happy to have television coverage from the Madison stations, but calls literally were coming in from all over the country! In fact, this event was even mentioned on the nationally syndicated Paul Harvey show.

A special thanks goes out to the eight Roto Rooter Bandit drivers who offered up their rides for the pastors. Bill Bartz of Monona Oaks Community Church driving Tyler Kelley's #87 took home the checkered flag in what proved to be a very entertaining race. MIS track chaplain, Todd Christopherson, was a little nervous making his racing debut but brought the car back in one piece.

It was great to see all of the pastors represented by their respective congregations...some came with banners while others had flags. Exit interviews with the fans proved that this was a very special night for all.

Over thirty Weaver Auto Parts ASA Late Models were on hand with defending track champion Bobby Wilberg winning the forty lap feature with a dramatic last lap pass of Jason Tyler. Tyler drove an awesome race but was unable to hold off the veteran driver from Orfordville. Great to see Brian Hoppe back with us again who finished third.

Jon Minor won a couple of races when he picked up a heat win and captured the semi-feature.

Todd Schmitz made his ASALM debut on Friday after a few years in the Midwest Truck Series.

Scott Lawver was victorious in the very competitive Bryden Motors Area Sportsman twenty lap feature as he became the second different driver to win a feature this season. Mike Amador and James Hellmer made their 2006 debuts at MIS.

Only two features were run as the weather took over just as twenty Roto Rooter Bandits were about to begin their feature. There's no doubt that this was going to be a great race as several cars joined us from Columbus after their racing program was rained out.

The Rockweiler Insulation Limited Late Models also lost their feature to the elements. Earlier in the evening Bill Baumeister won the Wayne's Custom DIECAST Dash which continued the two year streak of no repeat winners in Wayne's program.

Purchase Your 2006 Yearbooks
The 2006 edition of the MIS yearbooks are hot off the press and for just $3.00 are a great deal. They include a variety of feature stories including an interview with Bobby Wilberg, feature stories on Gary Rockweiler, Chris Stocks, and Todd Christopherson, a complete recap of the 2005 racing season, in-car driver photos, and much, much more.

Play Pick the Winner at MIS
Fans who purchase a 2006 yearbook will notice an entry form for the Pick Five contest. All you need to do is correctly pick all of the feature winners for the evening for your chance to win a cash prize. Entry forms must be turned in at the information table before the running of the first feature.

Only one winner will be selected from the entries that correctly pick all of the feature winners for the night. If nobody wins, the prize will increase by $25.00 for the next week and continue to roll over until we have a winner.

ASA Decals
If you received an ASA decal at last week's race, be sure to put this on your car as we will be going through the parking lot this Friday writing down license plates of cars displaying the sticker. The plates will be announced with the winners receiving some great prizes compliments of ASA.

Roto Rooter Bandits Added to RK Race Promotions June 27th Event
The excitement continues to build for the RK Race Promotions First Supply All Star Challenge scheduled for Tuesday, June 27th. With over 5,000 tickets already sold, this race featuring Matt Kenseth, Tony Stewart, and the Madison Late Models is sure to be the biggest short track event in Wisconsin in 2006.

It was recently announced that the Bandits will be the support division for the night with $500.00 going to the winner. This will no doubt bring out a huge field of four cylinder cars from throughout the midwest.

Please remember that your season passes will not apply to the June 27th race.

Don't wait...get your tickets now at mattkenseth.com.

Fireworks...Fireworks....Fireworks
Mark your calendars for Friday night June 23rd when Gordie Boucher of Janesville presents our annual fireworks show and the running of the Firecracker 75 for the Weaver Auto Parts ASA Late Models. Joining the racing program will be the Firecracker 40 for the Mid American Stock Cars. The Roto Rooter Bandits and Club La Mark Hobby Stocks will also be in action on the quarter mile.

This is going to be a spectacular night of racing and fireworks and one you definitely don't want to miss.

Super Lates are Back on June 30th
Plan on being at MIS on Friday, June 30th when the super late models return to Wisconsin's Fastest Half-Mile. Look for weekly updates as an impressive list of drivers has been committing to race on the 30th.

Driver PR Tips
As we go through the pits we are noticing more and more drivers with printed resumes featuring their racing experience, career highlights, sponsors, etc. With the technology available to almost everyone, this seems to be a must for all drivers. We picked up a great example of this from Jimmy Dragich, driver of the #71 ASALM last week.

Drivers...send us your profiles.

Chaplain's Corner by Todd Christopherson
What a great weekend! Sorry for the rain out for the bandits but I many to say thanks to this week.

First, thanks to WNWC and their support this week. Thanks to MIS and letting us play. Thanks to Brandon (#21) for using the car. And thanks to Steve for the help.

It was very cool to get into a car and "race."

The last time I drove a stick was in 1968. It was a purple 3 speed chopper style bike. So the first thing I had to do was learn how to shift. Even buckling in a big guy like me into a small seat was a challenge. Then to get on the track and in a few hot laps to learn the corners... Anyways, it was fun and I am sure funny to watch.

This morning as I thought and prayed, I thought there are a lot of people that sit in the stands and never get in a car. They may say its easy or I could do better or those guys are crazy... As I thought it , came to mind, God wants each one of us to be in His family and participate. We may say, I will leave the "being good" or "praying" or "reading His Word" to the pros. But God wants each of us to do those things. He wants us to know Him and to grow closer to Him in obedience and faith. It was a good reminder that the Lord want us to do the work He has called us to and not leave it to someone us.

Then God reminded me (and to remind you) that we are going to be accountable to Him for what we did with each message we hear from Him and others that share His Word. So go ahead and do the hard work of reading, praying, studying the Word. There is great blessing on the other side of it.

Again thanks for the fun last weekend! And see you at the track for the HOSS and quarter mile divisions this Friday,

That's all for this week. See you at the races and remember to bring your friends!
