June Is A Red Hot Month Of Racing At MIS

Sunday, June 4, 2006 (Oregon, WI) - The racing action at Wisconsin's Track of Champions, Madison International Speedway,  really begins to heat up in the month of June with a variety of exciting racing events planned for both the half-mile and quarter-mile paved ovals.

Oregon Night and All Faith Night will take center stage on Friday, June 9th with racing action in four divisions:  Weaver Auto Parts ASA Late Models, Rockweiler Insulation Limited Late Models, Bryden Motors Area Sportsman, and the Roto Rooter Bandits. The Club La Mark Hobby Stocks have a scheduled night off. The second leg of the Wayne's Custom DIECAST Dash Series will also be run for the limited late models.

The evening's activities will also include the first annual "Faster Pastor" race as area church goers have been voting for their pastors in hope of seeing them get behind the wheel of one of the four cylinder bandit cars.

Open wheel race fans are really looking forward to Friday, June 16th when a double header of open wheel action comes to MIS.  Making a return appearance will be the high flying 410 winged sprint cars from the Hoosier Outlaw Sprint Series (HOSS).  Last year the all-time speed record at MIS was set in this division by Tim Cox with a lap of over 121 mph.  Look for this record to be surpassed this year.

Joining the sprint cars on the program will be the first ever visit by the USAC Ford Focus Midget Series who will be competing on the new quarter mile.  "There is a strong tradition of midget racing in this area and we are excited about bringing this series to MIS," said promoter Steve Einhaus.

Three weekly divisions will be in action as well including the Bryden Motors Area Sportsman, Club La Mark Hobby Stocks, and Roto Rooter Bandits, all racing on the quarter mile.

The skies over Madison International Speedway will come alive on Friday, June 23rd when Gordie Boucher of Janesville proudly presents the Firecracker 75 featuring one of the best fireworks shows in the midwest.  "This event has become a big tradition here at MIS.  Just when you think you've seen it all, somehow these guys come up with bigger and better shows each year," said MIS general manager Dave Grueneberg.

Highlighting the racing events will be the Firecracker 75 for the Weaver Auto Parts ASA Late Models.  Joining the racing program on the half-mile will be the Mid American Stock Car Series with the Club La Mark Hobby Stocks and Roto Rooter Bandits on the quarter mile.

One of the most anticipated racing shows of the season comes to MIS on Tuesday, June 27th when RK Race Promotions presents the First Supply All Star Challenge for the Madison Late Models.  Fans will have the opportunity to see two of NASCAR's biggest stars in action when Matt Kenseth and Tony Stewart take on Wisconsin's Fastest Half-Mile.

Over 4,000 tickets have already been sold for this event.  Fans are urged to go to mattkenseth.com to order tickets today.  MIS season passes will not be honored for this show.

A support division will also be racing as part of the RK Race Promotions event.  The Big Eight Limited Late Model Series that was originally scheduled to be part of this big event will no longer be racing on the 27th.

The super late models return to Madison International Speedway on Friday, June 30th for our second of three special events.  "This is going to be a big event and we expect drivers from throughout the midwest to be coming to MIS," said Einhaus.  The Bryden Motors Area Sportsman, Club La Mark Hobby Stocks, and Roto Rooter Bandits will also be competing.

The June 30th show will also be the raindate for the fireworks show.

Pit gates open at 3:30, hot laps at 4:45, qualifying at 6:45 with racing at 7:30 for all regularly scheduled Friday night events.  For more information including updates, point standings, and results check out our website at madisoninternationalspeedway.com.

Just as the temperatures heat up in June so will the racing action at Madison International Speedway.  It's going to be a red hot month at MIS.
