Hintzsche, Riedner, Robinson, And Kelley Tops In Their Divisions At MIS

Friday, June 2, 2006 (Oregon, WI) - A large field of cars, super crowd, and great weather were all the ingredients necessary for a great nigh of racing at Madison International Speedway.  By the time the night was over it would be Troy Hintzsche in the Weaver Auto Parts ASA Late Models, Scott Riedner in the Bryden Motors Area Sportsman, Jim Robinson in the Club La Mark Hobby Stocks, and Tyler Kelley in the Roto Rooter Bandits taking home the checkered flags.  The winner in the Rockweiler Insulation Limited Late Models was disqualified.

Twenty-two year old Troy Hintzsche of Malta, Illinois, was the big winner on Pepsi / Q106 Night at the races   after winning the forty lap feature for the Weaver Auto Parts ASA Late Models.

Twenty-four Weaver Auto Parts ASA Late Models were led to the green by Josh Weir and Troy Hintzsche.  It only took one lap before the first caution flag waved with Hintzsche in the lead.

Hintzsche continued to lead after the restart until once again the yellow flew on lap seven for debris on the track.  After the green flew again it was Hintzsche followed by Scott Broughton and a quick  closing Nick Hammer.

By lap fourteen Hammer was up to second followed by Travis Sauter.  A couple more cautions later still found Hintzsche with a strong car and hanging on to his lead with Sauter closing quickly.  The race was red flagged on lap twenty-eight when the car of Matt Byrne made heavy contact with the backstretch wall.

When the race restarted it was Hintzsche once again being able to maintain his advantage over Sauter and Hammer.  From here on out it was smooth sailing for the driver from Illinois as he took home the checkered flag followed by Sauter, Hammer, Landon Cassill, and Brian Hoppe.

Jason Tyler of Stoughton set fast time with a lap of 18.052.  Heat wins went to Jon Minor, Jesse Saunders, John Wood, and Scott Ollerman.  Winning the last chance race was Jeff Jesberger.

Scott Riedner of Waunakee made it two in a row in the Bryden Motors Area Sportsman division as the field proved once again that two wide racing will be the norm on the new quarter mile.

Shaun Scheel and defending track champion Mark DePorter led the field of twelve Bryden Motors Area Sportsman to the line for their twenty lap feature.  Scheel grabbed the early lead with DePorter and Jim Burns battling for second.

Working his way up through the field was Riedner who by lap nine was up to fourth from his eleventh starting position.  On lap eleven, DePorter was able to take the lead from Scheel with the two trading positions until on lap fifteen Scheel got loose and  spun bringing out the race's only caution.

Following the restart, Riedner, who had moved up to second, was able to get by DePorter who drifted high coming out of turn four and held on to pick up his second straight Area Sportsman win.  Scott Lawver finished second followed by Chris Ehrhart, Mike Heelein, and DePorter.  Ehrhart would be disqualified following inspection.

Heat wins went to Casey Burns and Riedner.

Jim Robinson of Orfordville became the third different winner in the Club La Mark Hobby Stocks after winning their eighteen lap feature.

Roger Stephenson and Nick Newton started in the front row of the ten car field with Stephenson taking command early.  Robinson was able to get by Stephenson on lap four with the caution flag coming out shortly afterwards which sent Stephenson to the pits due to damage.

The restart was good for Robinson who maintained his lead with Greg Pruitt moving up to second.  Pruitt relinquished his second position to Kyle Stark one lap later as Stark took aim for Robinson.

By lap twelve Stark was right on the bumper of Robinson but would be unable to pass Robinson who held on for a tight win at the stripe.  Stark finished second followed by Johnny Robinson II, Mike Storkson, and Nick Newton.

Stark and Johnny Robinson II won the heat races.

Bill Baumeister of Janesville appeared to win the twenty-five lap feature for the Rockweiler Insulation Limited Late Models, but lost in post race inspection.  Following post race inspection, Baumesiter was disqualified and forfeited both points and purse money.

With a front row of Mark English and Brady Liddle pacing the fourteen car field to the green flag, Jerry Gille, from his second row position, would be the leader after the first lap.

Gille was the leader for the first four lap before the first of two caution flags flew for a spin.

Gille was only able to lead one more lap as the hard charging Baumeister moved up from his third row starting position to take over the point.  The race for second place was very competitive as Jeremy Miller was able to get by Gille on lap twelve and Bobby Wilberg moving up to third on lap thirteen.

Baumeister quickly built a sizeable advantage over his fellow competitors and seemed to be checking away from the field when a caution flag on lap nineteen.  The caution took away Baumeister's lead...only for a short time though.

Baumeister maintained his advantage over the field with Miller and Wilberg battling it out for second. But it would be all Baumeister who led the rest of the way followed at the line by Miller, Wilberg, Gille, and David Naumann.

Fast qualifier was Jeremy Miller with a lap of 18.989. Coming home with heat wins were English and Jon Reynolds Jr.

Fifteen year old Tyler Kelley of Oregon won his second Roto Rooter Bandit feature of the season by easily outdistancing the sixteen car field.

Scott Watkins and Cory Skolaski led the Bandit field to the green flag in their twenty lap feature.  The action got hot and heavy early on with Steve Dickson moving his way through the field to the lead followed closely by Kelley before the caution flag would wave for the first time.

Kelley moved up to challenge Dickson for the lead and used a perfect pick from a lapped car to do just that on lap seven.  From there it was a good race for second between Dickson and Rodney Mundt while Stephen Scheel and Rory Padfield raced hard for the fourth spot.

Kelley proved to be just too fast for this field tonight as he cruised to victory followed by Dickson, Mundt, Scheel, and Padfield.

Heat wins went to Padfield and Mundt.

Racing continues next Friday night, June 9, as Madison International Speedway hosts Oregon Night and All Faiths Night at the races.
